that does not surprise me at all, being a former martial arts guy, I know that size is not the main factor in a fight, number one is knowing how to fight, number two is speed, number three is overall aggressiveness, number four is strength, number five is probably overall size.

That may not happen all the time. I do agree that some big people are kinda soft. But IMO size does matter. Yeah you need to have skill but sometimes the size of your opponent makes up for all the skill you may have and they can get away with things a smaller opponent most likely can’t.

Id say number 1 in a fight is not to care if you get killed or go to prison for life, # 2 is having a weapon (preferably a bazooka) and number # 3 is having lots of friends around.

Homer: Hey! I saved your life! That egg sandwich could have killed you by cholesterol.
Lenny: Pfft, forget it, Homer. While it has been established that eggs contain cholesterol, it has not yet been proven conclusively that they actually raise the level of serum cholesterol in the human
    blood stream.

You give me someone that is 6' 5" 300lbs and I will take that mofo out with one fast, hard kick to his knee, he will not have a chance.

Easier said than done! I want to see this!

well, obviously if you took two guys that were both skilled fighters, fast, etc., the larger one would have an advantage.

I worded that wrong, what I meant to say was with the same or with some of the skills you have. Don’t ever try to take out a 300lbs guy please Price, we want you to take care of this forum for us.

It's not really hard to believe, you just make it sound like it's a piece of cake and I think it would be more difficult than you make it sound.

I spent 3 years of my life dedicated to Shotokan Karate the way that I am now devoted to weight training, so yeah it would be fairly easy for me to do. Granted I no longer have the speed and flexability I once had, but I still know Karate and how to fight.

If I were put in a situation where my only choice were to fight (this would be the last thing I would want to do) and the opponent were much larger, I guarantee I would not stand there and try to "box" toe to toe with him. I would use my skills, such as the kick to the knee, a punch directly in the throat, fingers to the eyes, etc.

well if he had any training all he would have to do was lift his leg twist it a little and you would be hitting your shin against his. Then the simple kick to the knee doesnt work.

7 years of Karate. ive seen too many try the kick to the knee.

Well, street fighting isnt necessarily like sparring in the dojo BK. Big difference in fact. Plus, when you're going to kick somebodies knee you have to either be THAT fast or catch them off guard/play them into it.

Fighting is fighting ive seen worse injuries in the dojo then ive seen in the street including some NASTY torn ACL’s. I’m not saying it isn’t a VERY affective move but you MUST be faster and stronger to pull it off. Have u ever stopped some one from kicking you knee and u walk away fine while they limp away with a cracked shin?

yeah, but when sparring in a dojo you are both preapred to fight...when you're on the "street" it's not like you're standing there in your sparring stance ready to punch and kick.

again, if both are trained and skilled fighters then it is a different story.

I was referring to your typical bar/club situation, as was the original poster that started this thread.

If you took three years of karate and have not keep practicing you'll find that you can't really do what you used to. Especially if it’s been a long time. Martial art is something you need to study and practice for a lifetime. It’s not something you can say you took so many years few years back. You think you can do a lot of the things you used to, until it is time to actually do it. Yeah you still know the basics but things don’t come out like they are supposed to. So if you don’t keep practicing and get on a fight with someone a lot bigger than you who have never taken karate, the odds are very much against you.

I already said I am out of practice, the difference is I know how to fight, most people do not, many think they do when in fact they have had no formal training.

its still funny as hell in that video...

if i was in a street fight situation that swift kick would probably catch me off guard. If i struck first it would be a punch to the face followed by a tackle... thats just my style

Mike Vallaley is a savage though. hes been known for his street fighting. Yeah in that video he looked kind of sloppy but he is a good fighter. He did K1 for a couple of short years. He runs with all them CKY boys. Bam Margera found him first when they were kids and if you ever watch any CKY DVDs youll see all th fights Mike has ever been in.

it's obvious the 6'3 guy was just a pussy who didn't know how to protect himself. to get "man-handled" by someone that that much lighter than you is just pathetic
I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.
