What's the most speed I can get for my dollar? Say I have 5 grand and a friend has 10 grand saved up to spend on a car. What's my best bet and what's his best bet with that much money? Also, I know i'll get some answers sayin to get a cheap car and modify it, so i'll say what's the best bet straight from the factory, and what's the best bet w/ modifications, but not goin over the $$$ limit!
Pain is only somthing to remind you that your still alive.

I would say the Ford Mustang, hands down. (for most speed for the buck)
For $5k, you could get a used 1989-93 mustang with the 5.0L V8, with some mods.
For $10k, you could get a used 5.0L V8 that could be pushing around 400 Hp that can eat some 'vettes for breakfast.
My brother finished fixing up his mustang recently. here is a rough breakdown of it:
-'89 mustang lx = $2000
-fresh 306 c.i. motor = $2400
-9 psi supercharger = $2100
-tremec transmission = $1800
-misc. parts (injectors, fuel pump, ignition....) = ~$2000
Without the supercharger and using regular street tires, he got a 12.94 in the 1/4 mile. Still waiting to try it with the charger. It should make it into mid to high 11's with slicks.
