But you'll only hear what they want to report. That's why you gotta read the paper, watch the news, check the internet, and listen to the radio to get it all.
Just wanted to drop a note and say that those of you who are reading the newspaper and have been keeping up to date on the situation in Iraq. US news doesnt accurately report information. Thats a fact, everything they do has an agenda.
That said, my brother read a certain newspaper in Seattle that stated that no US contracts had been awarded to Iraqis. He alone in his position has awarded over $300k in projects, etc. So the newspaper is no only misguided, its an outright lie and attempt to manipulate Us citizens who dont know better. Unfortunately this sort of reporting goes on all too often these days, but anyhow, when you read the news, alot more is being accomplished than these award hungry reporters are claiming.
Not to mention we captured Saddam![]()
all those sources are controlled though, not just TV. I doubt they have one outlet controlled and not all them, right
Aye, well its too bad that the American people cant just get the truth. Its been long since the media has just given us the facts as they think the average American too stupid to decipher it by themselves. Unfortunately this leaves us pretty much with a bunch of crap.
thank god for the Tom Leykis Show huh, nuthin but truth there! I know you love it eggs..lol![]()
I was just wondering if you in the USA have been told via the news that 1600 american soldiers has gone awol to avoid beeing in Iraq?
Would you be so kind as to tell us your source for this. Sounds like a bunch of bull to me.Originally posted by JJJ

And not some editorial page link or opinions column either. A Government (military) report would be good.
Just a regular guy.
It was in a swedish newspaper. I dont have a link.Originally posted by MeatheadSam

My point is, you wont find it in any Government (military) reports.
On any given day the US military has quite a few soldiers that have an unauthorized abscence. Not necessarily that high a number, but still a few. Lets be realistic, in any given organization there are those who are team players and do their job, and there are those that do not perform as they should be. Every American doesnt think alike.
And even if it were true, which being that I see no proof will not say it is or isnt, the US wouldnt broadcast it just like any civilian company wouldnt broadcast their weaknesses.
Oh, and as much as US newspapers print about Americans dying. I'm sure they'd print that material in a second if they could back it up. Unfortunately, most overseas papers dont worry about ethically providing references to prove their information.
Oh Eggs I am so giddy right now to see this thread!!!! My friends and I have been having this discussion all day!!!! We all range from maderately conservative to majorly conservative. So we are having a field day with the media lately. Like have you heard on CNN (I HATE THEM!!!! They are the worst!!!!) or MSNBC or the local news channels how Germany's chancellor telegraphed a congrats, no phone call or letter, a freaking telegraph to Bush, and Chiraq only said congrats, no apologies or anything for calling us liars and not backing us and now whining that they can not have bids for reconstruction projects. No you won't hear any of that. I will be interested to hear if the news comes out about how much they were making off Hussein and how much they have in debt becasue of giving him aid.Man I love our President right now. Him and Tony Blair are the ballsiest people right now, they have morals and balls to go in, under major scrutiny, and complete what they had promised. Plus his speach yesterday was beautiful

Good things come to those who wait........
Right on! I listen to Rush, Hannity and watch mostly Fox News. Some PMSNBC, but it depends on who the anchor is at the time. Never the "Clintoon News Network" aka CNNOriginally posted by Eggs

Oh yeah and Rush "pill poppin, hipocritical ass, right wing wacko" Limbaugh is more reputable than CNN. give me a break...
G81...CNN is horribly biased. Rush is too, but he is openly biased. Something needs to be done about CNN and their deliberate manipulatin of "news."Originally posted by gr81

Rush is right 99.5% of the time and the left can't stand it. He will tell you up front what he thinks and why. Not like CNN who allowed people in Iraq to be killed so they could get their story. They knew in advance it was going to happen and did nothing. There should be some sort of legal action that can be taken against them.

Not that I'm pro-media here, but, how could you make a charge such as that stick? Don't you think the Iraqis had some sort of intel. prior to the war? Surely someone had a television, no?Originally posted by MikeKy

No, it was a fact. This happened before the war started. It was all over the news and finally the head of CNN came out and admitted it. I couldn't put my hands on the report at the moment, but it happened and is online somewhere.
