    Exclamation Auto Mechanics Please Read!

My wheel bearing has welded itself to the spindle. Is there any way to get it off so I don't have to buy a new spindle?

I assume you ran it all the way down and there was no grease in there? Maybe you could with a mallet, but seriously you would probably damage the front end anyway. Front wheel drive cars suck when they crap out on you. The whole spindle assembly is balanced, so hammering on it would probably not be a great idea.

Another way to break rust, is heat cycling it, I use a propane torch but this is on brake lines (hard line, not rubber), on a large item this will act too effectively as a heat sink and will just soak all that up, you'd need more BTU for a large item like that. I had a frozen brake drum that was stuck to the hub, and a propane torch + 1500º painters heat gun for 30 minutes would not do it, I had to end up cutting it out with a cutting wheel, and then used a mallet on it.

I would not hit it, but heat may work.

Strange... If you drive a semi-popular car, find a forum for it, that would be my suggestion anyway.

You have only two posts that I see and they are both in this thread...

    Good luck!
