Please read this........

just some insight for you guys....

we often forget how blessed we are. it sucks, but too often it takes us to lose something to realize how lucky we are.

a drunk driver hit my car last weekend, so i was stuck without a car. alls i could think of was "how am i supposed to get around and do all my shit (gym, study for finals etc.)" i didnt even take into account that i, and all my buddy's in the car, were lucky enough to not get hurt in the accident. i completely took taht for granted. then like 2 days later, i was so sick for an entire week, and it felt like i'd never get better. then i was thinking, man, it feels soooo good just to be healthy. getting real sick is what it took me to appreciate my health. and losing my car is what it took for me to appreciate how luckky i am to even have a car.

this made me remember a story i read from one of the many great BB books i have.....

"Until recently i didnt really dwell on the concept of time, (refering to the importance of the BB's in this book and how they are immortalized in time), afterall, i had it all. i had money, a dream job, and the perfect faimly. and then in only a few months i found myself in a hospital, my ear stitched to the side of my head, my son fighting for his life and my wife dead. the moment was gone, forever. i have always been a photographer, and have the family photos to prove it. i had no idea how much comfort they would be to me. i can look at them and remember the moment my wife agreed to share her life with me. the day my son first spoke, and my daughter was born. those are my moments. and i remember. it was a period where i was blissfully happy. i just didnt know it. those pictures keep me going. i live for the moment when my son recovers. i know i will never be that happy again. but i have known moments of happiness and contentment that i wuold not part with the richers of the world! they are the source of my strength now. they're all i really have to make my life meaniningful. for me and for my children. the photos you see in this book are moments in time. the champions are captured in black and shite, in a way that they were and will never be again. preserved so that even across an ocean of time, young bodybuilders can see these men, read about their lives, and for a moment, experience what it was actually like to be in the presence of the greats of our sport. that's why i am dedicating this book to the memory of my wife. a finer woman i could never have found, and honeslty her death was the only annoyance she ever caused me. as you read this book, i passionately urge you, the reader to stop, relect, and recognize those around you and what they mean to you now. this moment in time is all any of us really have, and it will end."

anyways, like R.K. suggest, take a look around you and remember this moment and how blessed you are with health, and the people and things you are so lucky to have in your life, because it will not last forever......

the point is to look around and realize how lucky you are. because we often take for granted even the smallest things, and we don't realize how lucky we are until its too late......

therefore, try to appreciate everyone and everything you have, and never take ANYTHING for granted

Yea, I catch your drift man... I am depressed as it is a lot, and just thinking about family/friends being taken from me is very sad. I also am very thankful for everything I have, but often wish I had more. I will take your advice to heart. Great post.

very good post Flex and soooo true. ...You never know when you or your loved ones are gonna have their arms crossed in that coffin, so take advantage real often before lost friends...
I can definately relate and know what it is like to have things go from great to never the same like that. It is important for us all to be thankful for what we do have in our lives if we have things that give up strength. too many people take too much shit for granted, too many sad stories out there to live like that, ya know.

Someone out there is always worse off than you, true. A friend of mine was raped and beaten by a stalker on sunday, her parents died in the last 2 years, blah blah blah. Even she realizes others are worse off than her, but open your eyes, you have alot to be thankfull for.

I'm glad you guys liked it.

the last week of bad luck for me was both good and bad. it obviously sucks that i lost my car and got real sick, but its also too bad that it took me to be sick and lose my car to actually realize how lucky i was. it was good in a sense though, cuz now i do realize it. just the simple fact of being healthy is such a great feeling that we often take for granted.

Stacey-i'm glad you realize every single day how lucky you are, not many people are able to do that. thats the best thing in the world you can do, besides actually "enjoying your luck" (spending time w/friends, family etc.)....and Merry Christmas to you too

Thumbs up

Yep, we sure take lots of things for granted. I ask for forgiveness for taking those things so lightly everyday.

Ya'll are really right here - I know you had a real bummer week, Flex...which just means Ronnie better deliver that sedan pronto.

I've lost a lot of friends and family over the years - you reach a certain age and start noticing that you go to more funerals than weddings...but then it helps you learn how to value your life and doing some of the simplest things can make you grateful you have the chance to be here.

Premier - dude, you just hang in there...there will always be more coming around the next corner. And ya know you can always post with everyone around here anytime you feel too lonely...we got your back.

Losing anyone is hard, but...well, I learned something about ten years ago, and to this day I don't walk outside at night without looking up into the clouds and the stars and thinking "hi" to each person I've ever known who has passed....

I know it's kinda corny, but I always get a strange feeling - almost like they are way out there somewhere and yet still know I'm here. I've even...well, on some clear summer nights, I've even looked up and tried to pick a star out and imagine that's where they are now...that its what heaven is for them. I guess that is the closest I can feel eternity for me but it somehow always makes me feel better...and a way for me to remind myself that they are always with me.

(check up under my name buddy....JUST for you haha)
by the way, Ronnie called and said its on its way

i dont think your "looking into the stars" is corny one bit. in fact, i think thats awesome. its great that you believe someting so strong like that, there is absolutely nothing wrong with taht my man. i think i may even start doing that as a matter of fact (while i driving around in my black PINNACLE Mr. O Escalade haha). but honestly, i'm gonna try that out when it gets nice enough....

for now, i just pray to God every night before i fall asleep. i ask him to not let me take anything for granted, and to realize how lucky i am for my life and everything that i have been blesses with in it.....
