Well, if you spent your time studying and taking test drunk like I did, at least you wouldn't care if you failed.

Well actually I did do a lot of studying, I was just kidding with the prior comment, but thanks for you support anyway guys. It actually was a very hard final, they style it's in is what made it so complicated.

hmm....so that's why I had one final exam turned in this semester that was handwritten in crayon.

aww now rock....don't you fret too much here - I always tell my students that finals aren't the end of the world....

but then, I also tell them there is a reason professors love using red ink to grade them....it's symbolic of the blood being drawn with every wounded wrong answer.

don't fret yourself worrying too much - if you did the best you could, you might be surprised. And if you didn't...well, you already said that you don't necessarily agree with the formula kinds of answers, and that doesn't make you "wrong" just because you solve a problem in your own manner. Hopefully, the exam isn't worth 90% of your grade....I've taken a couple of classes where the damned final WAS over half the grade and I think I always felt like I didn't do well enough.

That being said, my students get a take-home final (long essays) and it's only worth 10%. . .I like to spread torture out over a whole semester.

Here's a good finals story...My 2nd year in school my Grandmother died and I had to go to VT for 4 days. When I got back, I was notified that I missed a test in my solids class. I went to the teacher and he told me that he NEVER gives retakes under any circumstance. So then I asked him to figure out what my grade would be if I aced the final because there was no reason for me to stick around if I was gonna get a D. He figured it out and said I would get a C if I got a 95 or higher, which he doubted I could do. This teacher was a real dick and he had 3 text books in the library on hold as supplemental reading and from which he could pull test questions. I studied my ass off for like 2 weeks for that exam. He graded the exam right there for me and I got a 96. Two weeks later when I got my report card that **** gave me a D. He said he must have figured it out wrong when I was in his office. Anyway, I decided I would get my vengence so one day I leaned a garbage can full of water up against his door, knocked on the door, and ran like a mutha****a. I wish I could have seen his face. It took like 3 days for him to clean up the mess and get a wet vac. Douche.

He deserved it - and I think you should have appealed that grade. He said you could get a "C" and refused to let you make up an exam. . .you scored above what you needed to get the grade, which showed you could master the work on the final.

I never treat my students that way....I might line up little voodoo dolls made with each of their faces and push little pins into them when they don't raise their hands in class...hehehe...but I don't punish them by going back on my word. Hell, I had two students who didn't turn in their research projects this semester. . .I cornered them during the final exam and told them I'd still give them some points if they could email the papers to me by late Sunday night (grades were due Monday). Both said they'd send it...and never did. That put a 15% major hurt on their grade.

You should have hauled that prof before a grievance board and produced your grades - he might have ended up lying to cover his ass, but you can bet he'd never do that to someone again.

Alright fellows, I passed!!! If I didn't I know it's not the end of my life, but I would be booted out of the program. But I passed and I'm so relieved now!!! Whheeeewwwww. Thanks guys!
