Its at least a normal amount of sleep about. I had to have 9-10 in high school or I would be tired the next day, I have always appreciated alot of sleep.

As long as you feel well rested you are ok. Remember, tissue healing, tissue regeneration and release of growth hormone occurs in the delta stage or 4th stage of sleep. Some people take 7-8 hours to go through all 4 stages and some take 9-10, some take only three hours etc. As long as you are going through the stages at an adequate length of time , the hours of sleep are not important as the quality of sleep. There are people with periodic limb movement disorder, restless leg syndrome or sleep apnea who never reach stage 4 or delta sleep and 12 hrs of sleep is pretty worthless and non restorative.

9 hours for me usually. No less than 8 though.

I sleep no less than 18 hours a day. Well, it is a sleep-like state anyway. Full-on sleep tends to be about 8 hours.

At least once a week I go 36 hours without sleep. I average from 2 hrs to 7 hours of sleep a night depending how often I get woken up!

    bandaidwoman,

what stage of sleep is dreaming? I have apnea and now on a CPAP. I am getting used to dreaming again, I hadn't in years.

Is dreaming in that 4th stage?

Most of our dreaming occurs during the REM sleep. We spend as adults on average 20% of our sleep in REM. Untreated sleep apnea patients have very little REM and stage 4 sleep. It sounds like your sleep cycles are returing to normal. (Most people average 5 episodes of REM sleep per 8hr average sleep.)

One of my friend's teaches Sociology at Rutgers.

When I was a senior and in Grad school, I got about 4 hours of sleep a week, but that was because I was getting shitface most every night and playing Playstation until 4 in the morning. Going to school in Daytona Beach was a bad idea.

Yes, I went to Embry-Riddle which is generally for pilots, engineer, etc. I dislike planes now because of it. Every retard would come up to me and tell me exactly which plane was overhead and I saw Top Gun a million times, but boy was March/April fun.

I work at the Universtiy of Pennsylvania, GBC so I am just over the bridge from Rutgers.
