How much do you slack off at work?

Realistically...since I found out my contract is getting cut back even though I met my goals and I have a good shot at another job, my last couple of days at work have been spent like this:

Arrive 6:30am - Drink my coffee and surf internet. Chat with gym goers while they work out. Gym empty by 8:30am. Continue to surf and post on IM.

9am - Get my second breakfast from the cafeteria. Read magazine. Take a 15 minute bathroom break. Continue previous activity.

11am - One hour appointment setting up a program for someone. Spend 15 minutes afterwards writing everything out so they can understand it.

12:30pm - Leave work two hours early. Run errands and go home.

8 hour shift, 6 hours spent at work, 1 hour 15 minutes actually working. Scary thing is I think today is going to beat that. So far it's 9:30 and I haven't done anything yet except read articles and chat with people on instant messenger.
Today I can do what others will not so that tomorrow I will do what others cannot.

The difference between winners and losers is that winners do things that losers don't want to do.

I don't have clients here. I manage a corporate wellness centre that is free for the employees. No PT here at all. I only wish I could be at my other gym recruiting clients while I'm sitting on my ass here. At least it gives me time to study and read.

I work hard each and every day. I work construction and have my own farm. And I would not like myself if I cheated anyone anyway - even if they cheated me - I just steer clear of those... I EARN my pay each and every day myself and I ride on no one's "coat tails"... I help out whenever and wherever needed and honestly so. That is how I have always done... I have an open mind and think very objectively about all things all the time. I find this is the very best way to experience and learn from life and living... Take Care, John H.

I slack A LOT! Thanks in part to IM. I work in tech support and have gotten laid off so many times in the past few years that I just assume all jobs are temporary.

I slack if not busy in the ER. If we have patients I don't slack unless there is a code Brown! Then you won't find me
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain...

Hi Babsie. We grow "whatever" - a little corn, potatoes, etc. Open space, meadows, creeks, etc. Have an orchard. Some cows, a few horses, sheep, some ducks, a goose (who OWNS the place actually and lets you KNOW IT!) chickens, etc. Dogs and cats (they OWN this place too - I am apparently just "lucky" they let me "stay here"...) Not a lot of animals in one type but a little of each - for variety - and entertainment - and sanity - and learning. You'd be surprised what animals can teach you and they DO have a sense of humor and livin' up life... A chipmunk (I think) that gets into my truck somehow and eats my protein bars - guess he lifts weights and needs his nutrition too - hope I don't ever have to go one-on-one with him anytime soon given the amount of protein he seems to be consuming... I can honestly tell you if your ever want a damn good laugh in life and living and some real comedy experience living and owning your own farm - there is never a dull moment. And the REAL PEACE AND TRANQUILITY!!!! Take Care, John H.

Hi Pony. I am not trying to "blow my own horn" but just answering the question asked is all... I am a very down-to-earth person actually and have absolutely no desire to "down" others - I am too busy living and enjoying life... Take Care, John H.

Hi Var. After a while of being given the idea you are not really important as many in the United States are treated as employees, I wonder how anyone can ever feel as if their contributions are worth much and even themselves.... It used to be that you could take pride in your work and yourself too and you wanted to do good. And you could feel good about what you do and about yourself... Many employers treat their employees bad and could "care less"... Who wants to waste their time working for someone like that? No one wants to have to worry about "the next day" and whether you will have a job or not all the time.... Take Care, John H.

PonyBoy, anytime your place of employment is hiring just let me know.
Homer: Hey! I saved your life! That egg sandwich could have killed you by cholesterol.
Lenny: Pfft, forget it, Homer. While it has been established that eggs contain cholesterol, it has not yet been proven conclusively that they actually raise the level of serum cholesterol in the human
    blood stream.

I think you're right about that John. I hope to start my own business, so that the work I do effects me directly and I can be proud of my accomplishments. My current employer offers no incentives, no rewards, no positive feedback, etc...etc... Looks like we may be outsourced to India at some point, so they dont care much about us.
