    Rant: I HATE Spring breakers

Honestly, i dont knwo if i've ever been more frustrated @ the gym than tonite.

Spring break is only 2 months away, so every fuckin person at my school is hitting the gym like they are preparing for the Mr. Olympia. only they do the exercises wrong, take so much time on each machine and basically have no idea what they're doing. but they gotta get those ripped abs and big bi's.

i swear, every other day is National chest day, switching back and forth every other day with National Bi day. i love going to the gym on leg day and moving some serious weight, and the kids looking at me awestruck.

Most frustrating thing EVER. I honestly feel like going up to every kid i havent seen there more than a few times all year and saying Get, and stay the fuck out.

Funny thing is, the gym will be EMPTY from spring break to the end of the semester.

just a rant, anyone else unfortunately experience this at their gym/school gym?

2 hours for biceps kids, 3 days in a row of bench presses, oh brother. Thankfully I dont see many of these types, must be my location or the time I go at.

I am in the military and every year before people go back home for christmas tons of weekend warriors come to the gym and take up space talking about how ripped they are going to get in the next 3 weeks before the head home. I don't own the gym or anything but it sure makes me want to go f*&%*#@ ballistic on people. In short feel your pain bro.

You know it, Flex....our Rec Center is huge, so it doubles for indoor track meets and swimming events. I had to reschedule my workout already today because our block long parking lot was full. Between the spring break prepboys and the visiting track team, there wasn't any space to use a single piece of equipment.

And yep, no one knows how to use even the Nautilus machines - and since it isn't kewl to read the simple instructions and diagrams on each one of them, they spend most of the time chatting with friends and doing a fast short set every ten minutes or so. I've been asked six times this week how to adjust a machine - each time while I was in the MIDDLE of a set.

The free weight room looks as if it was hit by a tornado - dumbbells and plates strewn all over the place. Some of the boys might be able to lift a few pounds, but they must be too pumped from the effort to take a plate back to the platforms.

Oh yeah - broken machine count during the first two weeks of school: TWO.

Man, it just so frustrating. I got kids coming up to me b/w every set "you, um, have a lot left on that". "FUCK YES I DO"

it is just so gay to see "little toothpick boys" trying to build 20" arms and a 60" chest day after day after day, with no idea what they're doing, taking up my precious space.

It was actually hilarious the other day. i lifted w/ a buddy of mine, who's a big Mf'er. We were doing chest, and we were so fed up with having to wait for everything and it being so crowded. so after every set, he'd just throw the weights/bars to the floor or on the rack, and it'd make a huge "BOOM", and kids would look at him like he was the boogyman.

This is why I don't work out in a gym....Don't have to deal with all that BS

I wonder what is worse... The Spring Breakers like Flex mentioned or the New Year Resolutioners from Greek?

Personally the Spring Break ladies might make for some nice scenery while taking a break between sets though

Well dammit, Flex - you were right. I just got home from the gym (after rescheduling my regular workout time so the crowd would move from the pump room to the clubs)....and there must have been 18 guys (sorry, Randy... only three ladies) in the weight room.

In an hour and 20 minutes, 14 of them used the bench, all of them did dumbbell and preacher curls, two of them did one back machine, and I saw just a little sweat on the brow of three of them. Only the ladies did some leg work. None were regulars.

When ya get done ragin' at your gym, drive Ronnie's car over here and clear them out.

that is one my biggest peves!
I went to another gym, 'cause of that! When I was starting out ( 6 years ago) I'd get done with my db weight and go looking for the next weight to use. Id spend way too long looking for then damned weight (too dumb to go to the next higher weight)

but it does suck to have to hunt to find a weight..or strip someone elses weights off...

oh, and my gym is full of the new year resoloutioners...I give them 2 months

I like that word, "New Year Resolutioners" Kinda has a ring to it don't ya think?

Take em out like John Candy did in the Movie "Uncle Buck".
Bound and gag their asses and take em out to your favorite park.
Then let em go, get the golf clubs out, pick your favorite wood, and nail em in the back of the head with a golf ball

    heh heh...
I just like to see the guys that actually stick to it.
I like watchingthe newbies look around like they are the new bad-asses of the gym..act all tough..and use small amounts of weight...
    Not that I am huge....
hell..my weights I ma using right now are appalling...they BETTER start going back up..SOON!

    Yeah Burner,

I remember when I first started working out myself. My friend convinced me to sign up for Gold Gym.... I was one of those newbies that were looking around too Thing was...I was more like intimidated. I looked around watching even the girls lifting more weight than I could lift It was very sad.
After that, I just used that as a motivation tool to work that much harder. It took some years and hard work, but now at least I feel like I have made some progress. I am by far not competition material, but at least I can see some improvement.

I think I was a lot like you guys, only I was so much older when I started that I was only intimidated until I could learn how to use things very well. I don't mind newbies at all, if it looks like they ar making an honest effort, and I'll stop and help people if they look intimidated.

Some of the ones who really amaze me are the guys in wheelchairs - they motivate me to keep trying, even when I have an injury.

I think that intimidation thing must be pretty common - one of my students wrote a paper last semester about how scared he was of going into the weight room, even though he wanted to lift. I had given the class an assignment to put themselves in an environment they had never experienced and write about it...of course, ya know some of them had to pick a strip club, but that's another story...hehehe.

This guy picked the weight room and wrote that having the assignment made him go in there. He thought everyone was gonna laugh at him, and he ended up making a couple of lifting buddies the first night. I guess there's some good stories, too.

me too. I was 168lbs when I got back into it, could barely bench bench 135.
Now, I am 200 (bit on the chuncky side) and Bench / squat / SLDL 315lbs +..so I have definately made a bit of progress....

You're spozed to steal the pink dumbbells the night before you first start at the gym and paint them blue.

shoot Burner, you were doing good. When I started, I could handle sets of 80 on the bench, and it was the hardest thing for me.

Of course, after two years and two problems with my rotaters, I've managed to get back to over 200. I keep telling myself I can eventually hit 300.

Yeah for me I remember warming up with (2) 25lb plates. Then I remember feeling like 2 inches tall after looking over my shoulders seeing the women warming up with (2) 45lb plates (135). Hell I couldn't even push 135 for 10 reps Now like you Burner, I am 225lbs weight and am near 300 on the bench.
Hell there was a black dude I worked out with who could push 550lbs for 3 reps... Now that is motivational. Thing was, he weighed about 400lbs too

Oh, and KBM...forget about the weights, lets hear about
    that strip club story

yeah...I am ticked @ myself. I was able to again bench 315 for three good reps. (my goal was for 5 reps before I went on vacation the 2ns week of December)
    Well, I got sick..and couldn't lift for about 6 weeks...I can't move shiat now.
slowly but surely, will get it back....

Oh hell yeah Burner, 6 weeks will definately strip ya down fast.
I can feel a difference just in not benching twice a week. If I drop a day and only lift once a week I can feel the strength loss.. In fact I can drop like 40-50lbs off the bench. It sucks, really does.
