Computer Help: Can't Change My Homepage!

I always set my homepage to blank, but for some reason no matter WHAT it always gets reset to this:

res://mshp.dll/index.html#22776

Basically just some funky search engine. I dont know how the hell this happened but it drives me crazy! How do I stop it from happening?

I have a brand new DELL that's why I am kinda' freaking out, lol.

usually when you visit sites a dialog box pops up and asks if you'd like to make "the site" your home page. IF you select "yes" it's then set as default.

Go to: My computer, Control Panel, Internet Options........You'll see a dialog box that pops up.....look in "Home Page and take our the URL address and leave it blank. you can also remove your history this way also.

Because your computer has spyware. The program automatically defaults to the homepage of it's choice whenever you change the old one. Download Adaware and it'll get rid of it. Then try again.

Spybot is good to, but it leaves spyware in your system too.

It's a good idea to get a decent firewall installed as well. Norton or McAfee both make good ones, and they block other programs from invading your system. I was surprised at how many times people try to put stuff on my system through spyware and otehr means after I installed it - worth the investment for sure.

Today I can do what others will not so that tomorrow I will do what others cannot.

The difference between winners and losers is that winners do things that losers don't want to do.

all the computer guys around here use adware on their clients computers to rid them of this crap. my father in law had a problem with the homepage thing and that is the only thing that worked finally. good program......and best of all it's free.

Spy bot is a great program, so is adaware. They both miss things that the other catches. Using both ensures a 100% spyware free computer.

I have never experienced ad-aware missing anything, you do have to update it fequently just like an anti-virus program.

Spybot on the other hand not only misses things it can delete and screw things up on your PC, which ad-aware has never done to my knowledge.

Damn ran another Ad-Aware scan today and deleted 7 more files. How often should I run it?

Because that damn homepage came back today!

You need to install a firewall. If you don't, it can happen everday.
