    Jealousy

I am getting so jealous of my friend. One of the things i was better at than him was lifting. But now hes starting to lift...hes catching up so fast its pissing me off....he just started lifting and hes already gaining so fast. He only works out light mon wed and fri and he deosnt eat that much protein and shit...and hes 5'9" 140 pounds. Even with all the stuff hes doin....hes like as strong as me now and looking just as good as me. he doesnt research lifting and he doesnt have a perfect plan....but still he wont stop getting stronger. i kno i shouldnt be jealous bit i mean bein so fit made me unique from everyone else. i cant jsut tell him to stop. waht do i do?

Grow up???? Sorry...couldnt resist. Unless this dude is genetically gifted, he's probably making newbie gains. It'll slow eventually. At 140lbs, he doesnt exactly sound like a monster.
But when you disarm them, you at once offend them by showing that you distrust them, either for cowardice or for want of loyalty, and either of these opinions breeds hatred against you.

I had a friend that was jealous of me and I knew it because he seperated from me and trained on his own for a few months and came back and worked in on sets with me.

    Here's an example:

    SHoulder Press barbell:

    Me: 185 lbs. 10 times
    Him: 185lkbs. 2 times

He then tells me am I getting upset that he's catching up to me.

    Go Figure!!!

How should you deal with it? Don't work out with him anymore?

One thing I value in myself is that I do not get jealous or envy of anyone. If someone is doing better than me then I am happy for that person. Try it sometime. It might do you some good.

Either that or lift HARDER like Premier said. =P

Are you gonna be happy when he plateaus b/c you aren't gaining? that's straight bitch shit man. How about you get your ass to raise the bar for yourself? Use his progress as motivation to take another step yourself and grow in this game together. Feed off each other. thats the way it should be between homies!! Until then, step it up hater...

imagine if your workout buddy was secretly juicing and all of the sudden his lifts were jumping up and he started lying to you and saying he started a KFC diet... that... would be NICE!

Someone will always be better at something, thats part of life, so I agree with GROW UP. Eventually you have to learn to live with such things, just say WOW and go about about your business as usual.

Thats like getting pissed off every time you see a girl hotter than your current girlfriend, and then dumping her because of it.

    Jealousy is about insecurity.

You may want to do a little soul-searching to see why it is that you are insecure.

Negativity will make your life miserable and unhappy
so nip it in the bud.

I'm gonna go against the tide here and say I think jeolousy is just part of being human. You are not weak or ungrateful if you are jeolous of something. I doubt any of the saints that have posted so far have never been jeolous of someone with money or with a hot girlfriend, even if they're so physically gifted they've never seen someone stronger than them and worth being envious of. It's a natural emotion and it motivates us, but I'm certainly not immune to it and I find it hard to believe that any one is too good for it either.

hey man, my bets friend was the one that introduced me to weight training. He has been training for much longer than me and his strength genetics are far superior to mine, far superior. I felt like nothing when I started training. I never hated on him though or had ill will. Instead he did what he could to steer me down the right path, he gave me the intensity that I have today. we Both grew together as lifters and consequently as friends b/c of that. There were times where his training was going great and I was in a stalemate, and there have been times, more recently where I have been soaring with my training and he has been down. We both are there to support each other through good itmes and bad. We can both count on each other to give an honest summary of each others physiques, the good and the bad. Its absolutely great man, I wouldn't trade that for the world. I am telling you man, there will be times in life when you feel insecure or like you don't measure up. Use that as motivation and swallow that shit. Many times we have both been out, and some times, the girls we are with will be all over him like, oh you are so muscular. Then, other times the situation will be reversed and I will get all the attention. I put on like 60 lbs since I started training and you can bet that all the people we both know were all over that shit. Oh you look so great, you gained so much weight. During all those times, neither of us hated on the other. We were proud of each other instead. After all, whats better than 1 guy that is big and stacked, is two friends that are walking around together big and stacked. Think of it that way. I know I have rambled on here but I wanted to share my experience with you. The point is that you can almost always increase your intensity. Grow together in this game, feed off each other and support each other, and you will reap the benefits bro, believe me. I have a best friend for life, and a large part of that is b/c of our BB. peace.

It is human, and it is weakness. Cheating on your wife is human too, does it make it acceptable? I sure hope not. Murder and many other things are attributed to humans and other animals, but we have advanced thinking (supposedly) where we can see that these things are not neccessary. Lots of things are human and animal behaviors, but that doesn't mean we have to be such sorry saps that we have to follow those who have fallen before us.

Humans kill other humans, its a fact, read the papers sometime. Therefore it is a human (animal) behavior.

Woah - now you are saying that humans are perfect and follow "Gods" every law to the letter? I forget it is which island you are from, but I'm sure it hasn't been discovered yet, how did you get onto the internet anyhow?

Humans are animals, not gods, and it is well known that humans have broken "Gods" laws many times over for thousands of years.

Where would you like to begin? Adams children?
