    Howard Stern Suspended!

Clear Channel pulls Stern off stations
    By Peter Johnson, USA TODAY

Shock jock Howard Stern, booted off six stations by Clear Channel Communications, expressed his own brand of shock Thursday at the radio giant's new "zero tolerance" policy against indecency on the airwaves.

Also, that whack ass beehotch Janet Jackson shows her mis-shapen boob and now we all have to pay for it, unbelievable. Is Bush trying to lose the election between this and the gya thing?

I'm all for free speech, but that was his employer that punished him, not the FCC, so I don't think of it as a free speech issue. That is like my company suspending me for making indecent comments while on the job. I am not saying what Clear Channel did was right, but I don't consider this a 1st amendment violation unless the government had gotten involved and pulled him off the air.

I still think he is overrated, but I understand that's not the issue here.

As far a Bubba the Love Sponge getting the axe, THANK GOODNESS. That guy sucked, and he sucked really bad.

White guy using the "n" word will do it EVERY time.

If he said what I heard he said, his employer has EVERY RIGHT to take him off the air.

This NOT a free speach issue..no way...the government did not take him off the air, his employer did.

Besides, the FCC has a case too...you can't just say anything on the air and claim free speach.

He's done it a million times though, if you're referring to the N word. His company hired him for his shock value... they know that his loyal listeners will be attracted to that

That said, as their employer they fully have the rights to do as they please regarding his employment. However, I find it a bit funny, because what they are currently snubbing him for is the same reason they hired him

Regardless, tis what happens in life... and Howie could retire tomorrow and live like a phat cat, so no biggie.

what does Bush have to do with this? (that sounds like a smart ass remark, but really, is Bush involved somehow?)

BTW, well over 2/3s of voters support holding firm on gay marriages...that is hardly an election-loser..at least not for him.

I don't listen to him...so take this with a grain of salt...but I agre that he was hired for shock but this goes beyond that..don't you think?

Using the n-word, especially the way he did, is simply STUPID in today's world. Look at the list of people fired for going there:
    Al Campanis
    Jimmy the Greek

A DC employee was fired for using a word that SOUNDS like the n-word...now that was insane....

EDIT: Just re-read your post, are you saying the Stern has used that word many times before?

The caller used the N-word, not him. Besides, most media outlets have their own censors to bleep bad words. Personally it is irrelevant because I still get Howard.

Although not directly linked to Bush, it is hard to believe that this would have been an issue pre-Jantet Jackson-ugly-titty event. Stern ahs been doing this stuff for years. IMO, pulling attention away from the real problems of the world would be a great advantage to GW, starting with WMD not being found as of yet. I am saying this even though I would be more likely to support Bush than any dem.

Yeah, Stern isnt a foreigner to the N word I'm pretty sure. I used to be a listener of his when I lived in California. I dont remember him exactly being kosher.

I do find it rediculous though the double standard that society places on this. It would be much like if all white men had a secret word, said "Cauky" (, I know...) and we could say it... but if a black guy called one of us "Cauky" he'd get fired. 99/100 times that I hear the N word its not from the mouth of a caucasian. That last 1% gets a dirty look from all around, including white people.

I find this truly to be hypocrisy at its best

Stern has an amazing obsession with the immoral side of this world. Its not like he has a variety on his show, its always the same garbage. Some poor stuttering dude, a bunch of lesbians, pornstars and whores, fat guys who dont get beautiful women and the freak of the week.

I cant for the life of me understand how he is rich with such little actual talent, but to make money in this world, all you have to do is lift it up and look at its underbelly and cash will be flowing.

While I'm no fan of Stern (and YES, he can be funny *at times*), he's been doing this kind of thing for years. I don't understand why he can act crass for 10+ years, and then the next day *WHAM *.

Either you knock the behavior down as soon as it happens, or you condone it.

IN this case, the FCC did nothing for a decade, and still hasn't. They merely threatened to fine EACH station that the "*" occurred on.

You can say his employer did this too him, and that would be true. The fact is that the FCC pretty much forced his employer to do this. They were perfectly willing to throw out the occasional fine. They were not willing to throw the fine out for every station that aired "*".

Not sure I made my point (forgive me, I'm tired).

The sad thing (to me anyway) is that hes a very intelligent guy. I think he has a Masters from a very nice school (though I cant remember the school). Its a shame he has to waste his intelligence on such crude material. It seems to me he has much more to offer than just how many lesbians can you fit into the back of a car.

Let people have what they want in life and stop trying to censor everything you god damn pussies out there. Please, just stop it. There is a reason he does what he does, it sells, he brings in ratings!! he is doing his job. leave the man alone.

Relax. This is a forum devoted to peoples opinions, hence the reason were all making comments. Just because I dont agree with Sterns tired ol Schtick doest mean im a "pussy". And just because someone brings it a lot of cash and has high ratings doesnt mean its nessecarily a good thing. Drugs and crime rake in billions. The point is just because we have free speech in our country, doesnt mean anyone can do anything they want. There has to be limits on everything or people will do ANYTHING.

    Just my 2 cents.

There is too much regulation going on in this country. We are being run be lawyers for gods sake. Anytime someone does something there is a group of others that dont like it, no matter what it is. What he is doing isn't hurting anything or anyone. If you don't like it the turn your back and keep to yoru fuckin business. Someone mentioned here the supplements and it is the same thing! Let people be. once he starts breaking laws, then get concerned!

If everyone just turned their back every time they didnt like something, then what the hell would anyone stand for?

I understand your point about everyone complains about everyones else's business, but where do we draw the line?
