    Books............part IV

These threads have always been pretty popular and conflict free

So, what have you been reading recently, and what can you recommend?

    Some books I`ve enjoyed this year ( in no particular order ) are;

    Enough Rope
    by Andrew Denton:
A great book for anyone that is, or has an interest in Oz and some interesting people there.

    Fetish and Split
    by Tara Moss:
along the lines of Patricia Cornwell, but the main charater is a ( very do-able ) model/Uni student. The first book is a great look at Oz through a Canadians eyes, and the second is a look at Canada through an Austrlaians eyes.

A Terrible Beauty and The Doorkeeper
    by Graham Masterton:
This is the author that got me interesting in books. Both great books by the man that has been called "the living inheritor to the realm of Edgar Allan Poe."

    Twisted
    by Jeffery Deaver:
A fun collection of short stories, all with very unexpected endings.

    Gateways
    by F. Paul Wilson:
The lastest in my current fav series....Repairman Jack.

    Bangkok 8
    by John Burdett:
This is the book that made me think of starting this thread. A VERY cool book that I`ve not yet finished. Its a murder mystery in Thailand of a US marine that is killed in a rather unusual way. The FBI etc get involved, but unlike the usual books like this, this one is written from the Thai police mans point of view, and the problems he is having dealing with us strange westerners.

Carl Hiaasen has said "one of the most statling and provocative mysteries I`ve read in years" about this book. While James Ellroy wrote "Read this book! Savor the language! It`s the last and most compelling word in thrillers."

This one is worth checking out IMO.

Anyway, let me know of any you`ve read and like.

    No whoring in here please.

Tryin´to read all the classics and Im thinking that everyone who reads prolly is up to speed bout those once, so the only book Ive read this year that is "popcultural" is

    American Gods - Neil Gaiman.
The concept that television, internet and highway has taken over the peoples worshipness (<-- not an actuall word) leaving the "real" gods pretty powerless and forced to wander the earth trying to make a living is an entertaining one. The book is hard to close once you open it. I give it 4 purple turtles of a maximum of 5.
