The home I lived in in the early '90s was a duplex. The other side was rented to some "new" people that had a home business. They had their own crack dealership ... and were very busy at it. My landlord and I did not get along (he was the new owner and a skinny guy that with his wife's money playing real estate mogul) who refused to believe that this nice old woman was a dope deader.
I called the city of Austin:
1) Anyone who knowingly rents to a drug dealer is subject to haveing their property siezed.
2) After the owner is notified of the drug activity, he/she/they MUST (no way out of that and it must be documented)make an effort to stop the renters or he/she/they will be subject to $20,000 in fines per month 'till siezure.
3) Any landlord or property management co. has emergency eviction procedings they can use within these circumstances so as to remain within the letter of the law and to protect other residents.
These 'lil tidbits got my landlord going in the right direction. My problem moved away with a haste. Call the city hall in your town ... I'm sure that there will be something you can do.
The media would also find this story apealing. "Crooks rob house, steal car ... BUT the landlord lets them stay" would be the kinda press your landlord would wanna avoid.
The whole gun thing sounds like fun but the crooks will also be armed and have less trouble getting away with murder than they did burglury. Of course you could take them ALL out at once. Kinda like a community service/pest control sorta thing ...![]()
