Thanks, it is a nice luxury to have for the sake of the children. Unfortunately, not alot of Americans have that luxury of having one of the parents managing the household and children while the other works. I think it makes life easier for both partners.

It does. As the only working parent, you must admit that knowing your family's finances depend solely on you can be a little rough at times.

How much (perentage) do you do of the housework?

I do fifty percent of the laundry (since my husband still thinks laundry should be done only when we are down to the last bit of underwear! )

He only has to cook for himself and Samantha since I never get home from work before dinner. Day to day cleaning of kitchen and vacuaming.... he takes care of. (I still clean the toilets since this just seems to be something men are genetically adverse to! ) He takes care of the bills, shopping etc.(I hate to shop except for bike paraphenalia) . He does alot of big projects around the house, (build new deck, laid down new concrete drive, car maintenance , wired the den etc.) so he keeps himself real busy between that and running around after a three year old.

I pay $400 a month for a great disability insurance with Northwestern Mutual Life so should I become disabled (Idon't plan to ) we still will get close to 95% of my income coming in. That takes off some of the psycological burden you alluded to.

Could be worse, he could be the type that isn't bothered until after he's used his underwear twice.

As a man, I completely and utterly resent that...not that I've every actually cleaned a toilet. But I still resent that!

Smart move. Planning is what separates the losers from the winners.

Myself, I do 35% of laundry, 20% of the general cleaning, 85% of the misc manual labor (cleaning gutters and mowing the lawn). I was just curious as to how this compared to others.

I keep telling my wife that she is more than welcome to quit her job and sit around the house all day. I make enough to support the two of us. But she has to go and have career aspirations. Sheesh. It'd be nice to not have to cook anymore.

Do you guys believe that a mother, who stays at home, but also works form her residence should carry the weight of all(or most) household chores as would most otehr stay at home parents?

Hey, if you going to be home all day anyway, go ahead and grab a vacuum.

Working at home is seldom (in my opinion) as intensive as working at an office. I think the parent staying at home should a more (but not all) of the house work.

I have to agree that on some days, I dont need to work at all(today's one of them...My post count goes up on those days! ), yet on some, I work 15-18 hours straight!
Anyways, its just an ongoing issue in our household! Sometimes we agree(on week ends) sometimes we dont (on days where she works!).Go figure!

My girlfriend makes more money than I do, but she should she's had 10+ more years of job experience. We share the chores, but I do the dirtiest and disgusting chores because she has a queasy stomach, like when the dogs have an accident or barf and cleaning the toilets and taking out the garbage.

See its not even about income for us, coz then she'd be doing the cleaning!!
Sometimes, I just feel that she assumes I should do everything, coz Im at home!
And she hasnt cleaned a toilet in 6 years!!

I had to clean up after our pets before, she would "puke" or act like she would otherwise...Until I let it go a little(ya know, leave dog poop in da yard for 2-3 days!!) she now has a strong tolerance to the smell!lol

I treat my gf like a queen so I don't like her doing dirty work, although she loves working with tools, not very handy with them but she does. Although I tell her not to cook for me she still has dinner ready for me when she can, if not then she worries what I'm going to eat even though I can whip up a gourmet meal out of anything. We're both very independent and love doing things for each other.

Its funny, my wife and I are weirdly similar , but in different ways if that makes sense!
She's the doer: tools, paint, nail, hammers, flooring etc...
i usually think up the ideas(were deco freaks) and she executes, so some consider her the "least feminine one" of us two.
On the other hand, I lift weights, love hockey, watch WWE, wont wear a dress and, of course, I clean toilets!lol not very feminine things!!! And Im not one tiny bit handy!

U a chef? My kids dad's idea of a gourment meal was ground beef and white rice!
