They guys that can't afford LSDs for our cars just weld them shut, ghetto locker. They push in the corners but you can compensate a little.
Now that they have autolockers they arent too bad. They disengage when going into a turn. You can hear it clicking, and as long as you dont apply too much torque it is fine. The way to go is with selectable. Like ARB or electrac.

Mudge I meant nothing negative toward you in my post. If you took it that way i am sorry, very poor wording (yes english is my first language). You have been nothing but helpful to me on this forum.
People just talk shit about explorers and as you can see from Premiers picture that is just one of many explorer (although extremely modified) that can do a lot offroad.
New locker are better as Premier said and offroader who have rigs that just for the trail are often welded which isnt good for a nice ride thought town or anywhere for that matter

On another board someone posted a truck that fliped a few times rolling back downhill after making a bit of a mistake rock climbing. Actually it was a very STUPID mistake, because they litterally climbed up the side of a hill with one side of the car only, when they could have avoided it, and yet they proceeded to keep their foot on the gas.
Wish I could link it, I will see if I can post it somewhere tomorow.
I'm an old-style Volvo brick. Sturdy, practical, capable of surprising feats of strength, but with vulnerable hidden weak spots that rust in secret and are prone to giving way at the wrong moments. Overcautious Swedish engine sensors set off warning lights at the slightest provocation, but in fact do not mean it, and vehicle will gamely soldier on far beyond the "Danger! Danger!" point. Practicality before eye-appeal. Very reliable, but expensive to repair.
When that day comes take me for a ride please.Originally posted by maniclion

I remember reading once about a guy that took his Dodge Colt and dropped in a larger engine and tweaked it up so that it could fly off of the line. I think that would be me. Not much to look at, but if you line up next to me and decide to rev your engine you will get a nasty little surprise out of the blocks. And I can go forever.
Today I can do what others will not so that tomorrow I will do what others cannot.
The difference between winners and losers is that winners do things that losers don't want to do.

Pony, the Colt I am told by one road racer has too much torque steer even in the turbo version, meaning even more power is going to be hell to control or even get grip. I have no idea how they avoid that in todays cars, but I have experienced torque steer in a 2136 pound car with only about 90# of TQ.
Front wheel drive may be nice with a little extra power, but leave the race stuff to AWD or RWD. Have you seen Chezfrog's Civic that ripped up a Viper? Notice that they went from a roll on the freeway, he can't take off for shyt with that FWD on a street. He also blew up his last block, Hondas were never made for that kind of abuse, he was putting out 400 something HP.
I would be more like a transformer. Say Optimus Prime, but I would be a H2 or Escalade.
