    Energy prices / availability

The number one thing all people in the U. S. need is energy - gasoline, home heating oil, natural gas...

The ability to get around and do the things life requires supplies and economy.

There is absolutely no reason why this country should have all its eggs in one basket energy-wise. Greed is certainly one of the reasons we are where we are. Since 1972 when Richard Nixon was President we have been having problems with the price of energy and its supply. This SHOULD and MUST be the number one priority of the Federal Government since it affects all else. WE should never be just dependent on one source or mode for anything.

The finest minds should be brought together in all areas and treat this problem as if war has been declared on this country and answers that are real and useful and economical and even non-polluting gained so we can become independent again and not be at the mercy of a few or other countries. OUR supplies must not be wasted either just to meet current needs. We must be smart and sane and thoughtful. It is pure bullshit that we are in this situation as a country. The real reason this country was strong and powerful in the past is because we had more than one way to travel, we had our own supplies and methods of meeting our needs. Being dependent on someone else is just asking for it.

We need Men in this country who are well trained and educated, know there jobs and have their jobs here in this country and the industry and machinery here in this country. Giving everything away to everyone else leaves us with nothing and we then are at the mercy of someone else. We become an accident waiting to happen.

Hi Super. Well we do have terrorism at the pump everyday and everytime we get the bill for heating... That can cause poverty itself! And crime! And drugs when it seems like you can not get ahead although I'd never go that route ever since I know it does no one good at all! Full employment in this country and descent living wages allows everyone to benefit - we no longer have much of that here in the USA because of the greed of some of our American businessmen - and some on the part of labor in some areas too...

When we do not have the basics IN THIS COUNTRY nothing is ever going to get better. That is very true. Seems like we have given everything away and there is not much left...

Don't worry, I get busier everyday (Solar Electric Applications Technician) there are alternatives, we have the technology. What we really need is all of these old oil families to get weeded out of politics. Our solar panels are made by Shell so that is one company headed in the right direction. Right now the biggest hinderance is bureaucracy cutting funding for research and implemetation of alternate fuel sources.
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

Hi Maniclion. I was thinking someone somewhere was doing research on this and doing it well. I believe solar musst be the answer eventually if not right away - that allows this country to be entirely free of the need for sources of energy and is probably totally non-polluting and quiet and health-wise probably would save a lot of heartaches too.

I had in my mind that our situation presently was due to the need of some to have everything and the hell with the rest of us. Some people just like piling money up because they can not get enough as an alcoholic needs a drink. We all suffer and so does everything else in this country when one aspect of the economy is ALLOWED to control all else.

The payoffs must really be nice for the chosen few. I wonder how people like that live with themselves or can stand themselves. I guess it must be nice to not have any ethics or morals - bet they go to church and pray too....

John asnwer me something OFF the subject ..
I would love to debate about world problems all day long but somehow I donīt do it and probably never will because I hate politics, something is very wrong about it.
How can you be involved with politics ? How can you like it ? Explain to me maybe I change my mind.

Hi Vieope. I could not AGREE with you more - I HATE politics too! BIGTIME!

I do vote and I vote EVERY time - never missed even a "special election" (which is an election put on to shove something down someone's throat when they were already told NO)...

If I had the power, I'd eliminate from the face of the earth - BECAUSE of the history and practices of each past and present - religion, politics ( they have always been strange bedfellows) and child abuse in ANY form by ANYONE.

I believe this world would be much better off without any of these. I once had someone ask me what I would replace these with (I think he was actually referring to religion) and I said NOTHING. I honestly believe given the past and present history we WOULD be MUCH BETTER OFF without each. CERTAINLY the abuse of children!!! But I would not stop there...
