I don't remember seeing that type of bike when I was a kid...But I did own a bike that had a bananna seat.
I remember wanting a Stingray when I was kid, but my parents couldn't afford it.
Now, Schwinn (which is now owned but Pacific I believe) is releasing a new version. My kids are already pestering me to get them one. (Unfortunately, I don't believe bikes should be bought anywhere but a bike store, or directly from the bike company.)
Having said that, it is certainly a very cool looking rendition if you were a fan of the old one.

Like he said, it is just a new rendition of an older style.
Naaa I don't like it. Put a set of Marzocchi 888R's on that thang and maybe some rear suspension as well and then maybe I'd buy it for one of my boys. lol
PS. the Marzocchi 88r's run approx $1,500.00 US. American Dollars. hehehehe

The bike I remember as being hot around 20 years ago was the "OFF ROAD" or something like that. I also had a bike with a banana seat and goofy handlebars. They had TV commercials for it and I dont see that for kids bikes much nowdays.

naw...couldnt have one like that...couldn't jump it...
heh heh...my 1st nike also had the banana seat and goofy handle bars..then I got my 'huffy'....then some kid down the street got a Mongoose (which actually looked like a bmx bike) and then every kid on the block wanted one....
I think I wore out the Sears 'wish book' looking thru the bike section so much....
ahh...good memories..
