    Smile For Us Girls

I found this while browsing, thought it would be a good one to share.

Women today find themselves pulled in a myriad of different directions work, family, spouse, parents, with little or no time for them. I liken it to being on an escalator or a treadmill that never quite reaches its destination.

So, how do we balance these areas of our lives without feeling like we are slighting anyone or not doing a good job? The answer may surprise you. The first thing we must do is honor ourselves!!! "Honor ourselves?" you say. "Is this person for real?" Yes, I am. You are always the last person in line, the last one served. We always think that once we have satisfied everyone else, whatever is left is fine for us. Well, usually that is not much. What is wrong with this picture? We become stressed, run down, grumpy, miserable, tired, and a million other negative things. No one wants to be around us anyway.

    1. Make a regular date with yourself. Schedule 30 minutes per day if you feel comfortable. If not, start with 15. This time must be UNINTERRUPTED and time just for you, NO ONE else. Go for a walk, sit quietly, whatever – but be consistent and protect this time.

    2. Stop the negative self-talk. This is a serious issue. Watch and monitor how you speak to yourself. Are you kind and loving, or mean-spirited and harsh? Keep a written record of these conversations. They may surprise you.

    3. Be Grateful. Start a gratitude journal. Before you go to sleep each night, write down five things of that day that you are grateful for. This works – it shifts your energy to positive right away.

    4. Move your body. Even if you have to break a 30-minute walk into three 10-minute segments. DO IT!! It relieves stress, boosts energy, and makes you feel GREAT!

    5. Create a sacred space. Choose an area where you can have private space to fully express yourself. Buy candles or incense, place favorite photos nearby. Go to your space to relax and replenish.

    6. Take a mental health day. Need I say more? Work will always be there.Take a day off and get a massage, manicure, or just stay inside in your pj's.

    7. Rediscover or start a spiritual practice. Spend time getting reconnected to your source. God, Spirit, whatever you want to call it. The results are amazing.

    8. Start a journal. Take time to dialogue with yourself. Ask yourself questions, learn new things about yourself. You may be surprised.

    9. Institute 5 Delicious Daily Habits. Pet the dog, hug your kids, smile at yourself in the mirror, say nice things to yourself. You get the idea. DO IT!! It makes you feel great.

    10. Ask for help if you need it. This is a biggie. You are not a superhero. No one wants you to be. Don't be afraid to ask for support if you need it.

I think often times a lot of us tend to look past real happiness and content with ourselves, its sooo improtant to find inner peace!
