Now let see which movies did I like recently...

    1. Gothika... That was pretty kewl
    2. School of Rock... liked that one.
    3. Open Range... now kinda old , but that was excellent 10 +
    4. Dawn of the dead.. kinda sucked, but still funny.
    5. Walking Tall... Now I wanted to see that till I found that the Rock was in it . IMO his acting sucks. Plus the original actor in walking tall is like a good old tough country boy. The Rock just doesn't fit the part.

Not as well IMO in what I've seen, but Arnie and Chuck Norris when they started out were the pits also.

I don't think he's all that bad. Ok, a little rough around the edges, but he isn't a trained actor. he, like Arnold came out of a sports arena and made famous that way.
But still entertaining. Like you said, I bet he improves over time..

I had always had the intention to watch Mission Impossible and it just came on HBO and since there were no tittie flicks on I went ahead and watched it finally. I watched the whole thing and still don't have a damn clue what it was about. Good movie though. And I hated Gothika btw

Lonely housewife: "my, what a big tool you have. May I see it?
    (zip)
friend: "hey, I think I need my pipes cleaned too....."

    cue silly porno music....

I agree with Mudge.... Arnie sucked big time when he started acting. But his hard work and dedication payed off. He worked very hard and it showed. He got better and better and gained the audiences respect. Now look at him go, "Governor of California!". You go Arnold ...

But like Mudge said, the films I seen the Rock play in left a pretty sour taste in my mouth. His acting IMO was pretty bad. To me he comes across very phony and unconvincing. But outside of my dislike of the Rock I think the director just made a mistake playing him in the movie role of Walking Tall. He doesn't even fit the image of the original actor at all.

And as far as Chuck Norris goes, I never liked him much either <blah>.

Cheesy is a good word for Chuck Norris. That and I think he just seems to conceeded. I guess all the big players do to some degree, but it seems to be more apparent with Norris to me.

Here are some of my personal favorites....just to name a few:

    Clint Eastwood
    Van Damm
    Charles Bronson
    Sylvester Stallone
    Mel Gibson
    Arnie
    Bruce Willis
    Sapphire's favorite (Vin Diesel)

The artistical ploys are lost when there's no context. Thats why KB2 was so much better imo, you had the dialogue, the story, etc... you could see what Tarantino was trying to do, and relate to it.

KB1 was a mish-mash of stuff that really had no over-riding point or goal... that was all left for KB2. I think the only thing that got KB1 such good reviews was that it was filled with action/gore.

Yep. Volume 2 was mostly a serious movie focused on character development. Volume one did have a point, and wasn't totally futile. Each volume showed different sides of the bride, obviously. One showed her as a fearless killing machine focused solely on revenge, while the 2nd focused more on her human side, that she is vulnerable with real emotion. Plus two had the better acting, Carradine had the best role in the movie.

Oh, and about Arnie sucking when first starting out, his first and only serious award (golden globe) was won in his first role in "Stay Hunger" for the best male newcomer.
Homer: Hey! I saved your life! That egg sandwich could have killed you by cholesterol.
Lenny: Pfft, forget it, Homer. While it has been established that eggs contain cholesterol, it has not yet been proven conclusively that they actually raise the level of serum cholesterol in the human
    blood stream.

I don't think you can compare the two. It's all one long movie. So the intention was not for the first one to be this and the second one to improve. The first one set up the story and the second one brought it to a close. Like a good book, u want the action/cool stuff to grab the viewer/reader and then mellow them down to the story once they're entertained. Hard to have too good a story with nothing but action or no action at all.
