    jobs and careers

Just wondering what kinds of jobs and careers people here have - does your work schedule revolve around your gym schedule? Or the other way around? I figure most people here are comfortable with computers, so maybe most of us are in the tech industry?

I just got a new job as a software consultant 1.5 months ago and the flexible schedule is awesome. I have more time to hit the gym at off hours (i.e. 4pm). I shudder at the thought of some 24-7 job (i.e. like some recent college grad I-bankers) that would not allow me to get to the gym at all. Who cares that you're making tons of money if you're always tired and look like crap?!

I'm sure many people have jobs that work around their gym schedule. But if you take the job just because it works with the gym, that is only a job and not a career. But my career does work well with gym time. No weekends either which is killer. Not to mention flight bennies and stuff.

It just burns my ass that a damn felon gets a high payig job a week after he gets out of the slammer...
but I wil go back to working on getting myself to my higher ground, as it were!

    Burner,

I wish I could get a job making 72K too, but the fact that this guy did should not bother you at all.

I have a hunch his "felony" was white collar (no less serious IMHO). He has the experience and had the intelligence and fortitude to network, make and maintain contacts while in prison.

This is a guy you should meet, and learn from.....

Burner, just because he got a job making 72k/yr does not mean he can keep a job making 72k/yr. lol Any major character flaws he has not addressed will crop up soon enough. lol Was he in for White Collar crime or do you know?

I work for myself and would not trade it for anything and I am making for money than I ever have before!

After working for somebody else for so many years, 5 years ago I started my own business and have never looked back.

I go to the gym when I want to and for how ever long I want to stay.

Being my own boss has REALLY made a difference in my workout routines. I plan my days around by workouts instead of trying to fit my workouts into my days.
Was on a Ephedrine buying Frenzy before it was to late... Now, I've got enough stocked up to last 10 years!!

I lease apartments. standard 40 hours a week. It blows, but pays bills and reduced rent on the apt. When Craig finishes school, hope to get my certification for PT, then work with him in his clinic or have my own little PT place attached to his clinic.

Oh...if ya need an apartment....search here.

I worry about finding a job. I don't present myself well in interviews, I come off as a bumbling idiot, when really I am intelligent and hard-working. The smooth-talking bull-shitting lazyass will get hired instead *sigh*

have you tried the 'stand / sit i front of the mirror' tactic to se how you present yourself?
Why do you think that of yourself, anyway?

When I walk into an interview I can usually tell right away if this is an environment that I am compatible with. Sometimes some HR folks that do interviews with applicants feel the same way.

I really don't like interviews that ask you impromtu questions like, if "X" happens what would you do? Right there on the spot in front of 3 interviewees, I have to give an answer. And I feel pressured to do so.

Greekblondchic, there are a few really good and helpful books on how to interview better to you can project the proper image of yourself.
