    Glock firearms

*Disclaimer- This is not going to turn into a pro-gunvs.anti-gun thread, if you are interested in guns then take a look, but don't bash me if you're not.*

I just got a new Glock 17 (9mm) and I was wondering if anyone else shoots them. I've only put about 120 rounds through it so far and I was wondering about what anyone whose had them or has one thinks, and if they liked the one they have/had. Anyone?

Glocks are dependable and the guns easy to clean. The trigger safety is considered to be safer, but it's always been little awkward to me.

I use to like shooting revolvers. Simple. Easy.

    I'm not much into revolvers.

I hate to ask it, but err......

    1. How did you get a handgun at 16 (repeat question from others)
    2. WHY does a 16 year old need a handgun?

You chose Glock. Is that because all the numbnut rappers think it's cool, or was it because you thought the weapon was "comfortable" for you?

Personally, I like Berreta's. They "feel" better to me. That's subjective, so......to each his own.

Even though he is only 16, there is nothing wrong with him shooting one with proper supervision. I was out hunting by myself well before that age. It is called responsibility. And RC, even though I'm taking up for you, that sig doesn't help your case. And I own several glocks. I carry a model 22 comp w/laser on duty.

Alot of police use the glock 22...I was going to purchase a glock 23 (A smaller .40 calibre) cause there easier to conceal.

Oh yeah, i agree with that completely. I've been shooting since my early teens, and i live 10 minutes from a smith and wesson plant... so i shoot at their range quite a bit.

I just thought it was weird for a 16 year old to say "YO GUYS I GOT A GLOCK COOL HUH?"

Nice piece. I prefer sig and beretta, but I'd take a glock anyday.

Yeah as far as the age question it's in my dad's name, but i paid for it. I sold my Ruger 9 mil that I've had for a few years. My dad had a beretta a while back but he sold, said it wasn't much different than the Ruger I had, so I went with the glock. I also like the rail on the new Glocks to put lights/lasers on without having to do any gunsmithing.

Yeah I've shot 45's before but I prefer the 9 millimeter. The kick on a 45 seems to make it take more time for you to get in position for your second shot, it's slow and boomy, I like the sharp, fast, 9 millimeter kick. Capacity used to be an issue but I think the Glock full size .45 holds like 13 in the mag, so that's enough firepower. I just prefer shooting 9's I guess.

The only thing the trigger safety helps with is if you drop the gun on the gronud it won't go off, Glocks really aren't that safe at all. If you havge one cocked and your hands in the trigger guard, it's going off, which is why they put heavier trigger pulls on some of the models they issued to police in I think it was New York City. And yeah, revolvers are simple until you run out of shells after 6 shots and have to reload.

Why does a 26 year old need a handgun? I shot glocks many times before I bought one, I like the consistent trigger pull and record of dependibility(spelling?) and reliability.

I'm not gonna get in a name calling match with you because it's not even worth my time, but what the hell is up with calling me a twat? In my experience people who go around calling people pussies all day eventually get the living shit kicked out of them by someone who doesn't take shit like that, or someone trying to prove himself a tough guy. I would recommend you learn to shut the hell up, for your own good.

I seriously considered getting a .40 but I've heard of issues with accuracy with that entire caliber. Plus, I have a whole lot of money in ammo from my other nine millimeter and in the end it just seemed like a better idea to not switch from the caliber I'm used to.

Thanks DG, and as far as the signature, the music I listen to is for those responsible enough to handle it. I heard the compensated models can spray gunpowder and shit back in your face on the recoil? Don't they get more dirt in the gun from being open like that?

It must be the Finnish side of you JJJ

As to pistols... I think glocks are okay. I'm not a huge fan, like gr81 I dig Sigs. H&K produces a pretty decent weapon as well, but I dont like them quite as much. A sig just feels right in your hands

On duty in the military I carried a 9MM Beretta... doesnt everybody? As to what you said about reacquiring target RC, I agree... its a bit quicker with a 9. I dont think theres anything wrong overall with the 40, in fact there are quite a few good pieces out there in 40. Regardless, I think going with the 9 and learning the finesse of shooting is more important than going out with a .454 and being all silly... it really isnt the size that matters.

    I have :

    Colt 1911 .45
    S&W Tactical .40
    Beretta 92F 9mm
    Sig P226 9mm
    Glock 22 9mm

    * I like my Glock. It is very reliable and definetly fires the most amount of rounds per minute than any other semi-auto pistol. they have that down

Supertech - that "may" happen but not if a proper round is used with the correct load. if you shot a target load at a windshiled it may/may not penetrate. but you also have to take into account the distance from the gun to windshiled and trajectory of the round...
I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.

thats true......but why take that chance, here in arizona almost everyone carries a gun,and theres crazy bastads like to shoot at you during road rage incidents.

I just want to make sure my shots are going to count if they start shooting at me first.
