    stupid or stupidly incompetent

ok, you are in a position of authority. it is your job to look after something. someone comes along, does something that involves you, whatever it is, it is clearly against the rules. You know that this is against the rules but you do nothing. Possibly because you recieve some benefit from this inaction or receive benefit outright. something goes wrong, a number of people point out the obvious, the cops are called in and finally the buck is dropped on your table. What do you do?.

do you say that you are stupid? that you didn't notice that anything was wrong and that no one pointed it out to you up until that point? Even though it was your duty to notice such things and no one else is needed to point things out to you anyway? Or,,, do you fess up to being part of the criminal act? So do you admit to being part of the activity or do you admit to being stupid?

For the paranoid amongst the group; this may or may not have anything to do with the sponsorship scandal going on up here in canada or the Contra Scandal back in the 80's, the martha stewart stock scandal or anything else. just something to think about. Would you rather go down as a crook that got caught or would you rather be known as just another stupid person?

Let me ask you this, what would fessing up get you? Now I truly believe if yo are going to do something, you also have to be ready to deal with the consequences, but there are also times it is best to keep your trap shut. Did you do something or overlook it being done. I need more detail here bro. I hate these vague ass descriptions of things. lol

There is nit a person in this world that can say they have never done something stupid. Being stupid does not land your ass in jail. I'd rather be fired than incarcerated.

And you have to wear pink girls underwear and pink slippers. Not to mention having to eat whatever you left on you plate the day before.

Why does this sound like a "leave it to Beaver" plot?

"Dad, if a guy in my class kinda sorta found some money in the cookie jar and another guy kinda sorta stole the cookies but liked to share them with the other guy for not ratting on him for hiding the money there that he got from selling his dads signed baseball cards would it be OK if the first guy just ate the cookies and used the money to buy more cookies." "Well Beaver, that depends on if Larry, Whitey or Gilbert's fathers had no part in this and my basball cards are still up in my portfolio and all those crumbs on your face means you just spoiled your dinner. Go to your room son, I am very dissapointed in you."

fessing up to being stupid DOES NOT get you off the hook. it is still left up to other people to decide the validity if not plausibility of that stand. so if you were to choose " yeah, I am stupid, i don't know how to do my job or even what my job is!" that does not mean that you will be able to get away with it.

Saying " hey, i didn't notice anything wrong! why didn't you tell me?" doesn't get you off the hook.

I am just wondering if people would rather be seen stupid rather than criminal when in fact, you may just be judged Criminal in any case. If that were to happen, then you'd be judged stupid, criminal and a bad liar.

If you know the right people, it doesn't matter whether you claim stupid or crooked. You will slide out like Teflon.

If you don't, you are screwed either way. Take the punishment, learn your lesson, and go play golf and make powerful friends.
