OK Dale, I believe that you make my point here. As soon as you start voting it becomes a political game and we all know that this is not a majority rule society anyway and this is most definitely a morally pluralistic society these days. And there are many cases in history of the majority being morally wrong anyway (depending on what side of the mason dixon line you live on). We also have many cases of unintended consequences of government meddling to learn from (i.e. Johnson's Grand Society ideas and Government guaranteed co-dependendy in the failed fight against Poverty). I don’t trust the government to have the ability to teach proper morality and values when they rip each other apart with scandalous statements and shameful infighting in the national debate. They just don’t have the standard I want to convey to my children. Perhaps it’s the best we can do as a society but I would refuse to permit my children to attend a school that taught based on fear and guilt tactics. I want objectivity and I want the basics or I want a person who I personally trust to present ideas I support. I don't want a majority view that is politicized through bureaucratic and incompetent meddling, of what my kid’s morality and values should be - that's my choice. But we are drifting far from the original topic. Maybe we should spin off schooling and parental rights thread.

Don't think I am making your point. My point is that there are a few things that transcend political borders such as drunk driving, drugs, etc. sp there is no political agenda. No one wants anyone driving drunk unless you plan to run for public office, then it is ok.

Edit: By the way, since I saw this girl's stuff on this site a year or so ago, I have not done the drinking and driving thang. Not because I am scared about what may happen to me, but because I don't want to do that to someone else and the extra $20 I may spend on a cab is better than having to live with that grief.

Namely, that the future is not here yet and this girl although grievously influenced by this tragedy has awoken an enormous power within her that will be the architect her own success. It appears that she has in fact already reconstructed a winning attitude and success framework and shown remarkable agility to persevere where most others would likly give up. In a manner of speaking she is now more influential than at any other time in her life and that my friend is power and fortune. She has transcended the mark of average human achievement and is in the elite realms of human accomplishment. But we should probably roll off another thread to talk about some of the implications of this.

I hate drunk drivers with a passion, when I was younger my stepbitch(mom) would pick me up after school reeking of liquor. One time we ended up in a ditch. As soon as I turned 16 I got a job, a truck and became the designated driver for all of my friends, but that didn't stop one of my friends from killing himself one night by driving up a tree at 90 MPH. When I did start drinking I made sure I had a ride or took a cab.

Cars should have a breathalyzer to unlock the ignition.

If a drunk hits me, they better kill me cause I will destroy them I don't care if I go to prison. To me it is the most easily avoidable situation, If your going out to drink don't bring your car.

Don't Drive to Drink. Should be the motto

i doubt that this is the future she would have wanted however transecendent it may be. But this is not a doris day song. The quote is about a person's fortunes; not future although the connotation could be taken from that perspective as well. She is the architect of her own future to be sure, but of her fortune: well someone else played a hand in that one.

My true colors? We use people every day, if people did not use each other for what we were good at where would we be? We use people for what they are good at and we pay them for helping us.

If she is OK with being "used" as a poster child so to speak, then there is no harm being done. They feel it is an important message to get through, we USE people every day, dont act like this is such a big deal because it isn't.

If you used nobody then how are you on a computer? I seriously doubt you built everything yourself, run your own powerplant and your own ISP and your own backbone to the internet. We all use people every day of our lives. If you are using someone against their will that is something else entirely.

Brother, you dont know me personally just as I dont know you personally, I hardly know you at all. So before you go ASSUMING what I meant, feel free to ask exactly what I meant.

Lets take a look at what USE means.

"We used her for a short commercial about our new low carb beer."

"We used her in an ad campaign we ran overseas last november."

Many, perfectly legitimate ways to USE someone. You are taking USE to be something negative, you are taking it to mean she has no idea what is going on.

You are right I think, I wish parents would take more responsibility. It seems that parents half expect the schools to do everything now.
