There had to be about 15 girls there, ages 15 to 17 I guess and all of them were over weight. Not just the "baby fat" pudge. It was in thier, arms, hips, legs, butts, etc... NO YOU PERVERSE PEOPLE I WAS NOT CHECKING THEM OUT!!! sicko's!!!!

you're definitely NOT imagining it. i think kids today are a lot less active AND eating a lot more crap (food is worse and portions are larger)

while it's true that lots of times the whole family is big due to bad eating habits...i'm starting to see more and more families where mom and/or dad are getting more exercise and healthier food than their kids and are actually in far better shape than their teens. (maybe that's an LA thing? )

Parents forget that they need to teach their kids how to cook and how to eat.... Nutrition is not being taught in the schools like it should.

Watching Extreme House Makeover last night and I just couldn't help but be mad that they gave those kids a year supply worth of pizza. Granted all those kids are under a lot of stress from losing 2 parents but that was such a bad thing. How about a year's supply of meat or vegetables or fruits or even a cook!!!!?????!!!!

I place a significant amount of blame squarely on the shoulders of the parents. Who/where are most of life's lesson learned? At home.

One of my wife's friends buys nothing but "shit" food for her kids and she wonders why her kids are pudgy. My kids get very little crap and absolutely no soft drinks, snack cakes, or other similar crap. They do get, on occasion, candy and ice cream. It's funny to hear my kids tell their friends that they're going to get fat eating that crap. In fact, my son came back from a birthday party and promptly threw away his candy because "he didn't want to get fat".

Have you seen a school lunch menu? There's not a whole lot of nutrition in these either. And what's even more frustrating, are the pop machines in schools. Pepsi is giving kick-backs to schools for every machine they use.

I used to eat ton's of garbage when I was a kid. I used to have seconds and thirds at dinner. The reason I didn't get fat was that I stayed active all day long. I would play sports after school and then get home and play some street hoops or dodgeball or any of the other neighborhood games until it got dark. Then I would go inside do my homework then the rest of the night was television time. Even when I got grounded (alot) I had a weight bench in my room and could go in the backyard and hit my bag for a while. Parents today need to force their children to do something active restrict video game and TV time. Alot of the parents themselves need to be outside with their kids getting some exercise as well.

We ride our bikes every weekend. We rode 30 miles yesterday, 10 of it in the rain. My daughter was pissed since this was the second time we got caught unprepared.

I teach my kids nutrition. I also limit junk food and tv time. I do force out side activities as well as participate in them.

I am teaching my kids stuff I was NEVER taught and had to figure out for myself.

We go to McDonalds once in a while n my kids already know how to order a reasonable meal. Education is the key, (Tesla tells her friends diet just don't expect results till you move that ass) and getting them to enjoy healthy foods at a young age. BUT I have seen weight conscious women with pathetically skinny kids, I would caution restricting calories in a very active child. My kids eat just about anything and burn it off. They get to have chips, candy, soda, ice cream .... but for snacks sometimes- usually- they choose to eat weird stuff like a can of black olives, or Tesla a can of string beans... fat kids are miserable, unhappy kids who have or develop serious health and psycological issues. A parent who sits by and watches a kid get fat should be charged with neglect there's no excuse for it.

The problem gets even worse because I honestly think they think they look sexy. (Just like Pitboss, I'm NOT checking them out! ) Look at what these overweight children are wearing; midriff shirts and hip hugger jeans. Their enormous gutts and jelly rolls are just hanging out for the whole world to see, it's freakin' disgusting!!!

I dare ya to walk up to a group of them and tell them what you think. I'd like to see their reactions.

Britney Spears is their role model. She's gotten pig-ass fat too.

My daughter is an artist so the nude female form is no big shocker. She collects vintage playboys and I think this has given her a healthy mindset on what is attractive on a female. I think it's mainly just Britney's posture in that photo that makes her appear sloppy. I'd rather see that than her ribs.

What makes me sad is that seems to me there's no "normal" kids any more. Not girls, at any rate. I go to the mall, and see either fat girls -- fat, not plump -- or bone-skinny ones with that oh-so-telling fur of hair on their arms.

It's not just junk food, either. It's the world. When I was young, I'd go out and bike or wander around for hours, all over the place. Parents these days are afraid to let their kids even play outside without supervision, let alone go wandering around who knows where and run into who knows what kind of sicko.

Though I don't think video games and corporate food sponsorships in schools help, either. Or the fact that most of the adults -- parents -- that I know don't have the first clue of how to cook, let alone cook healthy meals. Let alone cook healthy meals when both parents are working ten-hour days.

Hey I cook I just use awesome cookbooks...I have a killer brownie recipe that has no fat you use babyfood prunes n they taste great. We eat real meals like roast chicken n stuff like that roasted pork I think real food satisfys kids more than the junk so they eat less.

Well another thing... at the club I work at on Thursdays it's a younger crowd mostly... 21 to 28 I guess. The women are dress somewhat sexy, low tops, short skirts, hip huggers, etc. I'd say 80% of them shouldn't be wearing what they are wearing. The men on the other hand dress stylish also but it's reverse. The men should be wearing what they are wearing. It's like men care more about what they look like than women now adays????

For years womens magazine were getting shit for showing skinny, hot or sexy women and young girls were taking drastic steps to look like them.... when? where? What magazine do they all read now?? Farm Girls Glamour?? Baskin Robbins Monthly??

I'm just ranting I guess for no reason that I can think of...

I've told my wife that, I certainly have told gals this. The reaction I got the time I did it was "well, you're not all that!" And I wasn't being rude about it. I had suggested that a couple of them perhaps get longer shirts. One piped up knowing I was a dad and said well, let's see your pot belly. I had on a sweat shirt, so I promptly lifted it to show them the ard gained six pack ... they just had a guilty smile and sheepishly rode off into the mall

Doesn't that just make your day? We have a community pool in our neighborhood. Last year was the first summer our family were members of this pool. I don't mean to brag, but I was the ONLY male there at any given time that was in shape. There were very few females, young or older, that could pass for being in shape. I will give moms the benefit of the doubt because childbirth plays hell on their bodies, but pre-teens and teenage girls have NO excuse. And males have even fewer excuses. If you're coming to our pool and you're overweight, please do your best to disguise it.

Yeah were in a real crisis here in this country. When I was a kid we played sports all day long. There were only a few TV channels, no PS-ll, no gameboys, no 200 channels on cable....ect And its not just kids, adults are getting fatter and fatter. I work with guys and gals who's asses are as wide as the caboose on the Burlington Zepher.

And the experts say its getting worse and worse. I have buddys who are walking cardiac time bombs. That weight thing is just a killer. Thank God exercise has always been a part of my life, and my wifes. Our kid is getting conditioned right with it, hes always active, and we dont permit much junk food for him. But he has many friends whom, at 11yo, are just destroying themselves with food...............take care...............Rich

I think the real problem is that most people seem to be having kids and letting them raise themselves - no discipline. Add to the fact that the fatasses in my neighborhood seem to eat fast food 4 or more days out of the week.

I know my kids think that I am hard on them (as I thought my parents were hard on me), but later in life I think they will see that I've given them the tools to succeed.

Am I the only one that sees a obese person (or family) in the supermarket and checks out what kind of food they are buying?
9 times out of 10 you can bet there is nothing but pure shit in their shopping cart. It's actually amazing to see the type of crap they eat. All I can think "No friggin wonder they're fat".

No, I especially see amazing things at Sam's Club and Costco. That's where these lard-asses load up on pop, candy, and other shit. It's also where I buy my oatmeal, tuna, fish oil caps, and canned salmon. Talk about both ends of the spectrum.

These are also the people that use the battery powered carts when they shop.
