    The Camping Thread

Have you ever gone camping ?
Lakes, mountains, wolves, bears, fishing.. It seems really interesting although I found that most americans find it to be a boring activity. Why is that?
    Tell me your stories.

I've been camping a lot and LOVE it! I dont think its boring at all. Went camping up in Maine two weeks ago for a weekend. Did some hiking, drinking, relaxed. Very good time!

My brother goes camping all the time. I like to camp, but I HATE bugs. Okay, more like I'm scared of bugs.

The bugs were bad in Maine when we went.

Northern New Mexico, Northern Arizona, Northern Nevada, Utah, Colorado.

Every now and then I absolutely HAVE to get away and just let the world roll off my shoulders. Those are the times I go camping solo. Any other time it's a huge party with tons of friends. We love to go anywhere there's water and/or great scenery. I've had one terrible camping experience and it was my own damn fault. Who, on God's green Earth, goes tent camping to Lake Mead, Nevada on a 4th of July weekend? It must have been 120 degrees AT NIGHT!!! I had to toss my air mattress in the bed of my truck, put a blanket on top of that, soak the blanket with water and lay on that. The evaporation of the water was the only thing that kept me cool enough to relax. Sleep? Forget it. From that moment on I refuse to sleep in the wet spot.

All Ive really seen of Canada is Saint Catherine St. Its Disney World for perverts. I felt very much at home there.

Actually, check out Saint Faustine in Quebec. I did some horseback riding there. Beautiful!

I've always wanted to camp solo. Would be especially cool on a flyfishing trip. Kind of intimidating though.

Go camping every once in a while. Just got back form a paintball tourney in Oklahoma. We camped there. Almost got swept away by a sudden monsoon type storm.
Love camping in the mountains with ATV's...might be doing that over 4th of July. about 10k feet. Nice in the day, and chilly (read: prefect sleeping weather @ night)

I sleep with the windows open.
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

Saw a nice rockface on a small mountain today while taking Tyler on a moose sighting ride, we saw 2 n a deer, anyway to climb it we'd have to hike in, swim across a river, climb up, camp on the top n come back the next day....who's game?

Has anyone ever camped out in the desert? Mojave is a good place. I haven't been camping in over a year though.

My idea of roughing it is a Howard Johnson's that does not offer 24 hour room service. Otherwise, it's a Hyatt or Westin for me.

I don't mind being outdoors, I just want a nice soft bed to sleep in. And servants at my disposal.

I'll be roughing it in camper at the 24 hour race next weekend.

She's more anti-camping than I am. I used to camp all the time when I was kid, so I could do it if needed. But MBC is dead set against anything camping .
