    I do like Salvatore's writing.

    As for playing DnD -

Tried once in high school, it didn't exactly work out.......I needed credit from some extra curricular activities. (Watching cheerleaders bounce up and down didn't count for official credit, apparently. ) My friend convinced me the easiest activity was joining the RPG club. In a moment of mind-boggling stupidity I agreed to go with him.
What I saw in that room hunts me to this day.

Five of the biggest dorks god ever put on this miserable planet sat there engrossed in talks of......well, whatever it is geeks debate about when gathered in their herds. Needless to say, I didn't last long. They kicked my out after about an hour or so. Apparently they had some rules against making the other "warriors" cry. Who knew? Thus ended my only (thank god) encounter with this wonderful past time.

I ended up joining the Animal Preservation Society, where you only had to show up to the one party they were throwing. (I brought burgers. )

Are you sure??? I mean its really REALLY NOT very nice. Im not just saying its not "the greatest" Im saying people are really downright mean and a lot of adult (albeit geek adult) stuff goes on there. Its not a site for kids under 18 in my humble opinion. I remember someone played a trick on this one guy. Some 12 year old pretended to be a girl and then posted the guy's love letters for all to see. Im dead serious about that. Ok maybe its not as bad as stuff that goes on at other places, but on a fantasy message board meant for kids? C'mon....

But ok......www.rasalvatore.com. Just click messageboard. Do yourself a favor and read the thread topics first. I hope things have changed.

OH jeeZUZ that brings back memories!!!! Oh man ....*sides hurting from laughter*.....Ive made many a geek cry. My favorite was when one big fat dude said "well Im just not gonna play if he's gonna be like that". He was talking about how evil my character was. I stood up and slapped him right in the face. IN THE FACE!!! And he was older and bigger than me too. Richard was his name. Not only did he go home to mommy but I think the others in the group shit their pants cause nothing like that had ever happened in one of their games. No, no one said anything to me but I was never invited again.

I admit it...I playe DnD for a while in high school....i never got all into it like some people but it was fun for a while...actually i quit when the people i was playing with started dressing up as wizards and shit for our games...that was the end for me.

I also played Magic the Gathering card game in high school and undergrad....now with that game i really did "get my dork on"...i played that shit all the time in high school...sometimes over summer break i would play for like 3 days straight.

the funny thing is that we actually got alot of hot chicks to play the game with us.....then we showed them some other kinds of magic...but thats another story.

it's funny CAT asks about a single game and everyone starts exposing their deepest darkest dork secrets that aren't even about D&D

I never played magic, but know some people that do.

What I don't understand is Warhammer. I've only recently heard of it, and that's only because you can have an army of topless elf-women

but you buy these figurines and then have to hand paint them yourself, and build the "stage" from scratch home-made. And the figurines cost a minimum of $40. So for a single army (and I assume you have more than one) you shell out $40 an army, plus $40+ for certain major units.

That's the extent of my knowledge, but i've seen it being played. The game itself looks really cool, but apparently there's a rule that in order to play you have to a) dress in all black b) be butt ugly c) be between 90-110 lbs or 300+ lbs d) have no girlfriend

therefore, I'll stick to just being an onlooker. Besides, I'm too lazy for all the hard work I've seen put into some of these scenarios. There's some really awesome home made built sets, and mine would be made of cardboard and some cheese.

"I surprise attack you from behind the cheese next to the stapler."
"Nuh uh! I made a successful save throw with my Topless Crayola Elf!"

I had a friend who was into that game. It was Warhammer40k or something. He spent hours and hours painting these little guys. I thought he was a bit off the wall... But they did look really cool.

Bump on that. I know of about 3 or 4 people that hang at the comich shop who talk about Warhammer and they are indeed off the wall. Judging from what I see and hear, it is a very time and finance consuming effort.

I paint miniatures too so just from what I pay in the once every blue moon that I paint one, Im assuming these cats spend a few hundred to thousands of dollars on their armies.

Time and money that can be better spent on good nutrition and a weight set if you ask me. But they dont ask me so, hey.

I used to spend my whole pay check on those freakin cards...now i spend my money on chicken breasts and protein powders....i am now just a dork with muscles. (but i can kick other dork's asses...and thats all that matters right?)
