    Next Level

After 5 years of not eating pork, lamb, beef etc. (no mammals) I have decided to do away with the poultry and fish as well. I just started thinking about how they treat these animals, the antibiotics and hormones they inject into them and the conditions they are kept in alive and dead. I realized that unless you hunt it yourself its just not fair to these animals to raise them for slaughter.

I know you folks don't want to hear it, but if you do it in baby steps it's not very hard. Try cutting out pork first, usually the easiest. Why pork, because pigs are smarter than dogs and if you have ever seen someone with a pet pig you would see how that they have emotions too. The things they do to them in captivity is bad. They take the piglets from the mother at an early age and without any pain medicine, they cut off their tail, rip cut out 8 teeth to the gumline, put a hole in the ear for numbering, and rip off their testicles. Many of them are killed by being picked up and slammed on the ground repeatedly until they die. Also they get killed by being hung upside down and have their thoats slit, you can hear them scream as the blood flows out of them, it's horrible.

You then quit the beef, then eventually the chicken and fish.

I'm not a hippie so fuck you(just in case). I'm just an awakened soul realizing my surroundings and maturing intellectually. Maturity the ability to empathize not just with humans but animals as well.

Nooooooooooooooo!!! Don't stop eating meat, are you out of your mind??? You said it yourself, meat is loaded with chemicals. You need to build up your tollerance to chemicals because if you don't you might accidentally get some in your system one day and **POOF**, your ass is DEAD!!!

Besides, if God didn't want us to eat meat he wouldn't have made it taste so good.
Rules? You mean we have RULES for that???

I can still get my chemicals through the crop dusted, fecal/carcass fertilized produce.

Trust me a vegetarian Lion isinsane, especially coming from a Texan home that ate beef for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It's just something I need to do.

I hate vegetarians, my cousin who went to MCT with me is a vegetarian. Everytime we went to grab MRE's I'd always grab two vegetarian MRE's cuz they had the most stuff in them and they'd say all right we need to vegetarian MRE's for Rosenbureger, and because he is my cousin I always had to give up my food and get stuck with Five Fingers of Death everytime. But seriously man, if you can live without meat, good on ya.

I hear they abuse vegetables too. They spray them with chemicals- probably like mustard gas before they kill them so that you, you greedy bastard, can consume their flesh.

same goes for fruits, slooooooooowly squeezing their bodies to ooze their very lifeblood from their bodies, so that you can drink your damn selfish juice!

now you're fucked, you can't eat anything

I agree with crono man. Nobody cares about the poor little plants anymore. Plants are just as emotional as animals. Think about it, if you talk to your plants they grow, more, they get all depressed and wilt if it's not sunny enough, you have to give them water everyday just like you have to drink water yourself. Look at all the craop that happens to the poor plants, If you are a blade of grass you get mowed down once a week, If you're an apple you get plucked away from your home and eaten. Man you're gonna have to eat rocks and dirt.

I think you are an imature little puke.

If this is his wish to not eat meat due to his feelings and his beliefs than that is his choice and you respect his decision instead of hating.

I wish you the best with your decision Maniclion

thanks for the support sean, how can we look the other way when millions of blades of grass are being beheaded every weekend?

and New, his concerns for meat eating has nothing to do, from my interpretation, with what men are meant to do. He doesn't like the way animals are being treated to become the meat that we eat. Regardless of this point, I will judge maniclion on his character and he's shown himself to be a respectful member of this board, and him not eating meat, of all trivial things, does not make him a bad person or credit him that kind of disrespect

... he's still a tree huggin' hippy though

How do you plan on getting your protein? I'm assuming you won't be eating eggs or dairy either. Even whey protein comes from milk. Scratch that off your list. Those animals are treated just as inhumanely as those going to slaughter. Probably worse, they don't get put out of their misery until they are all dried up and useless.
Vegan and bodybuilding do not go together. Soy is about your only option and with it's effects on estrogen levels I would not be taking it in large quantities. Without meat and dairy you will have a hell of a time getting an adequate supply of protein in your diet.

As far as milk and eggs go I find cutting them out now would easily have me craving meat so for now I still eat some but sparingly as I search for alternates. Like I said baby steps.

Crono and Sean: Ever heard the squeal of peanut's when they get pressed into butter, poor little guys.

New In The Game: I'm glad my ancestors ate meat, the added fat kept them warm in the frigid winters. I now live in Hawaii, frigid is sitting in an air conditioned room too long.

I will manage fine on the protein front, maybe the muscle won't stack on but I'll maintain well. Many athletes have been vegetarian and performed well.

But what the hell has that got to do with you???

Just b/c your going pussy (vegetarian)
it wont make a damned difference
People are gonna keep mistreating them...doing what they've always done

You can at least do the animals a favor and eat them....make their deaths not a waste...

    and another thing...

So what if we kill them like that??

How do you think animals get killed in the wild?

Do you think the nice little lion is gonna give its prey a seditive before it
chases it, tears its flesh with it's claws, puts the death bite on its throat, and then eats it? NO

    We are animals too

Pussycat, to assume someone is weak and frail because they don't eat meat could prove dangerous. Just because I don't lust for blood doesn't mean I'm scared to shed it in my defense.

    Bill Pearl - Scrawny bastard
    Jack Lalanne - Weak
    Hank Aaron - Wuss
Carl Lewis - Slow as a grass crazing cow
Dave Scott - with his tired, no energy having ass
hundreds of others who couldn't form a complete thought like Edison, Da Vinci, Plato, Twain, Darwin rendered complete vegetables cause that's all they ate.

i dont get the point of the list you made

and im not saying your ''weak" or w/e you think im implying...

Im just saying that becoming a pussy wont help any animals

so you might as well eat them so their violent deaths wont be in vain

no need to talk him out of vegetarianism (?) and if you try at least come up with a better argument, to each their own- he's not hurting anybody with his decision.

nevertheless, I don't see what you, or anyone for that matter, have against milk and eggs. The eggs aren't fertilized- you're not killing baby chicks, you're just eating what would have been otherwise thrown away; and the milk isn't hurting anybody. The cow needs to be milked, or else they get utter infections. Crazy, but the milk inside them will spoil.

no one's treating either the chicken or the cows wrong, they're just living/eating like they would anywhere else. They're just being raised to do it. Not so different from you being raised to do whatever job you do. If we did not raise/ breed them, we would have no cows/chickens

that's like once I heard a vegetarion say they don't wear wool. C'mon, wool???
sheep like getting clipped, it makes for cooler summers! you don't kill them for the wool!!!

So you're saying you would eat meat if you hunted it yourself? It certainly seems alot more fair to let an animal live it life in peace; maybe procreate, and when it dies- die instantly from a shot in the head(Natural death can be so many times worse). Not to say killing anything is,"fair" or,"nice" but it would be my preferance.

    LOL, nice pre-emptive!

It is possible to have a healthy, balanced diet as a vegitarian, or even vegan, and still be a bodybuilder; It just requires a massive nutrition knowledge(Which foods to mix ect). I have alot of respect for anyone who can stop eating meat though, especially someone in a community such as ours, where they realize all of the negative effects of it. Good luck with it though- My sister went veggie for 6 months, and snapped. Now shes back on the meat, lol. I have a feeling you wont face that problem though; esp considering shes 15.
Her big influence was PETA- While they tell the truth; they tell it in a politicians way. Some of the horrible treatment they claim animals get was found in a few incidents, and the people responsible are in jail. But they spread it as if theres no govt regulation, and its commonplace for the industry.
Anyways, Good luck and keep us posted!

With eggs its an American issue. See, we have the right to,"The freedom to pursue happiness." and chickens are fufilling their life purpose by laying fertilized eggs(Therefore they are, on a chemical level,"Happy")- thats why nobody protests chicken farms where chickens are born. When we have them lay eggs for food, we are keeping them away from roosters; therefore taking away.. You know what this is bullshit, I dont know why people dont eat eggs LOL, I dont eat them because I dont like the taste, but thats me.
As for cows though- Being the giant profit-first society we are, we find the most cost effective ways of doing things.. for cows, this involves machines milking them; which often causes blistering and open sores on the utters. For this reason theres alot of pus in milk too. Thats why France supposedly has better cheese, no pus.
    Heres my theory though-
Cows are big, stupid, slow, and more importantly; tasty. For this reason anybody of any religion cannot be against eating cow; if there was a god, he inteded the animal to be food. Thats also why they always produce milk, even w/o calves around.
As an atheist, all that matters is that they're tasty- Because Ill never see reprocussions for my actions, .

Typically that would have been my choice too but I don't want anyone going all psycho on me again because I told them to f off.

There are still many forms of protein other than meat. Making complete proteins with grains, veggies, legumes, soy, etc, etc................. Just have to educate yourself on your choiced foods and enjoy. As with any other bodybuilder, this is a lifestyle, not just a diet.

Look at all the craop that happens to the poor plants, If you are a blade of grass you get mowed down once a week, If you're an apple you get plucked away from your home and eaten. Man you're gonna have to eat rocks and dirt.

All we need is a catchy name and a couple saleable personalities and we'll be ready to go. We don't need to buy signs to tell people to keep off the grass. I know plenty of elderly gentlemen that would be glad to yell that at people all day. We just need a rocking chair relocation program. Why waste money on signs. Yeah let's get this thing rolling.

"For as long as men massacre animals, they will kill each other. Indeed, he who sows the seed of murder and pain cannot reap joy and love."
    Pythagoras, mathematician

"The time will come when men such as I will look upon the murder of animals as they now look on the murder of men."
Leonardo da Vinci, artist and scientist

"To a man whose mind is free there is something even more intolerable in the sufferings of animals than in the sufferings of man. For with the latter it is at least admitted that suffering is evil and that the man who causes it is a criminal. But thousands of animals are uselessly butchered every day without a shadow of remorse. If any man were to refer to it, he would be thought ridiculous. And that is the unpardonable crime."
Romain Rolland, author, Nobel Prize 1915

"If a group of beings from another planet were to land on Earth -- beings who considered themselves as superior to you as you feel yourself to be to other animals -- would you concede them the rights over you that you assume over other animals?"
George Bernard Shaw, playwright, Nobel Prize 1925

"What is it that should trace the insuperable line? ...The question is not, Can they reason? nor, Can they talk? but, Can they suffer?"
    Jeremy Bentham, philosopher

"In their behavior toward creatures, all men are Nazis. Human beings see oppression vividly when they're the victims. Otherwise they victimize blindly and without a thought."
Isaac Bashevis Singer, author, Nobel Prize 1978

"Our task must be to free ourselves . . . by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty."
"Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances of survival for life on earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet."
Albert Einstein, physicist, Nobel Prize 1921

"I am in favor of animal rights as well as human rights. That is the way of a whole human being."
    Abraham Lincoln, 16th U.S. President

"Until we stop harming all other living beings, we are still savages."
    Thomas Jefferson, 3rd U.S. President

"You have just dined, and however scrupulously the slaughterhouse is concealed in the graceful distance of miles, there is complicity."
    Ralph Waldo Emerson, essayist

"As long as there are slaughterhouses, there will be battlefields."
"What I think about vivisection is that if people admit that they have the right to take or endanger the life of living beings for the benefit of many, there will be no limit to their cruelty."
    Leo Tolstoy author

"I cannot fish without falling a little in self-respect...always when I have done I feel it would have been better if I had not fished."
    Henry David Thoreau, author

"While we ourselves are the living graves of murdered beasts, how can we expect any ideal conditions on this earth?"
"Atrocities are not less atrocities when they occur in laboratories and are called medical research."
    George Bernard Shaw

"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated."
"To my mind, the life of a lamb is no less precious than that of a human being."
    Mahatma Gandhi, statesman and philosopher

"I am not interested to know whether vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't...The pain which it inflicts upon unconsenting animals is the basis of my enmity toward it, and it is to me sufficient justification of the enmity without looking further."
    Mark Twain, author

"Non-violence leads to the highest ethics, which is the goal of all evolution. Until we stop harming all other living beings, we are still savages."
    Thomas Edison, inventor
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012
