BERLIN (Reuters) - A 76-year-old German man who set out to give his 78-year-old wife a driving lesson instead put her in hospital by hitting and strangling her when she failed to follow his instructions, police say.
"There was initially a verbal dispute, which then turned into physical violence on the part of the husband," police in the western town of Mettmann said in a statement on Wednesday.
Eyewitnesses alarmed by the violent scenes accompanying the man's efforts to familiarise his wife with their new car alerted emergency services. They separated the pair before giving first aid to the woman and taking her to hospital.
Police later imposed a restraining order on the man and said he would be charged with causing grievous bodily harm.The lions sing and the hills take flight.

the old MASH guy got arrested for spousal abuse he must have been 70 or so. a friend of mine does in home health care n the doctor, who's wife she was caring for, woke her up one night beating the shit out of his invalid wife. it's not that uncommon. maybe they get alzheimers n forget they don't hit women.
