    Angry Should I move??

My roomate recently gave his 30days notice, which it left me in a messed up situation. I have to find a roomate. I've asked everyone that I know, and they aren't looking to move. I spoke to the landlord about this, and she said if I don't find anyone soon, she will find one for me. Yikes! I'm not down to have a stranger come into my place and live here. I really don't want to move, my apartment is cool, not to far from the beach. It would suck to lose this place. I've been looking around santa monica, rent is sky high, so I'm forced to look around venice. If I decide to move, I want to give my 30days notice at the beginning of august. What should I do?

this sux. i'd try to avoid moving though. santa monica is awesome and you probably have rent control now. as expensive as your place must be - it's be way more to the next renter. have you tried asking people you work with (besides just close friends)

seriously hope this works out. a new rental in venice can easily cost you more if you've been in your current spot for awhile

Yes we do have rent control. I've lived in this place for 3yrs and in Santa monica for 15yrs. The landlord said if we leave they would rent it for over $1700. Rent in venice isnt that bad, average is about $900 for a 1BD/ 1BA.

well - me personally, i'd rather have my own place in venice than share a place with someone i didn't know in santa monica. (but i've never feared venice the way people seem to think i should. i lived in inglewood for a year - venice isn't scary.)

    good luck whatever you decide.

WHOA, What's the closest school? I know I wanna become a CA resident, and was planning a move in sept. I think I might have a job offer in Long Beach, but I haven't really picked a school yet. I have been looking for an apt. on rent.com for a couple mo. now.

There are tons of schools around here, particulary SM city college, just a few blocks away.

I would not suggest driving to long beach from my area, the dreaded 405 is a biatch.

But most of them are for different reasons

    • lmao... well, I pay more for 1 class than a UC berkely student pays for an entire year's tuition. And I live in the Detroit area (automotive area). I'm interested in Bio-Med/Mechanical. I need to get out of this expensive run down automotoive area.

    • I want to live someplace where i can ride a bike to work and school all year round.

    • (actually i wanted to get into the porn industry, but that doesn't look to promising n/e more )

20 min. north of Sacramento. I am also an alum. It was the "bike capitol" lol until Chico took the title away. Small family oriented community and town. I loved going to school there though and so did my friend.

    California prices are absurd.

House across the street just sold for 600,000.

    Ugh.

Thanks. Thats a very thoughtful offer but I have a steady job here, girlfriend, and got too much love for SoCal. (not the people, just the life). I used to live up north and I cant take it, its too slow for me.

Screw that, I lived there for 4 months and it nearly drove me insane. Course I did live in the middle of the desert on a marine corps base, but the price of milk there is either double or triple what it is over hear, I wouldn't even want to think about paying rent there, plus I hated the people, maybe it was just LA and Palm Springs, but they just got to me, though I did like the time I spent in San Diego, and San Francisco, and the fact that vegas was in driving distance was awesome. But you couldn't pay me to move back out there, too many bad memories of sand and rock, don't need it.
