I saw a post in the,"Heres Kerry for ya" thread, and Ive seen the same thing said over and over and over and its so wrong and completely stupid. I figure it deserves its own thread. It started from this..

Yeah, but you forget that he did more than get head while he was in the white house. Among other things, he pushed the,"assault weapons" ban, which had/has no affect on lethality of weapons, instead it was(meant to be) a stepping stone twards an extremely harsh, or total gun ban. If you read the law you'll know what I mean..

Lied? They took advantage of the term,"assault rifle" commonly known as a military rifle with selectably fully automatic fire. Even though the civilian semi-automatic versions look the same they lack that ever so important ability. Yet while pushing this campaign they spoke of the deadliness of these weapons while showing FULL automatic weapons in action. In many places (http://www.endhandgunviolence.org/ne...post5_7_04.cfm
) they have even decided now that,"The semiautomatic weapons continue firing ammunition automatically once the user squeezes the trigger once and keeps it pressed down." The entire campaign was designed as a lie to take advange of the 60% of Americans who dont own guns, therefore dont know about them. In a recent reply letter, from Diane Fienstein, she explained

do not belong on the streets of our communities.
1. Yes, it does ban all assault weapons.. as defined by the same law.
2. Wait.. Is she saying someone used an,"assault weapon" even after they were banned? I know one of the kids had an AR-15, I doubt it was preban configured tho.. I dont care, but who knows? Reguardless, It wouldnt have affected the lethality of the weapon anyways. Speaking to my friend the other day on this issue, He believed one of the kids had an,"automatic" weapon, and that they killed like 600 people(LOL, it was 13.. lag I guess)
3. Yes, assault weapons CAN fire 250 rounds in seconds.. It may take alot of seconds, and you would need to reload a few times, but in like 200 secconds you could unload 250 rounds into a crowd, gasp. Im suprised democrats are pushing for,"Smart Guns" That means they're even more dangerous than normal guns! Plus, smart guns can fire 50,000 rounds in SECONDS!
Im not going to post the quotes from Clinton speaches(too many, too long) but he never missed a beat on this as well; not to mention he signed it well knowing it was a lie and during the democratic national convention this year he still claimed it was effective.

Anyways, Last time I checked statistics, 17,000 - 30,000 people are killed every year in the US by guns.. This includes gangs, drug dealers, shady charactors(Such as illegal gambling ring leader), people killed by police in the line of duty, people killed in self defense. In the end theres maybe 2 - 10 thousand innocent people killed by guns a year..

Actually, FBI crime statistics show that fully two-thirds of the people who die each year from gunfire are criminals shooting other criminals. Locking up the criminals would dramatically reduce the number of people killed each year and would make our neighborhoods and communities safer.
Now on the other hand, the main statistics have streamed numbers of 60,000, 100,000, 2.5million(Gary Kleck, Criminologist@FSU in 1993), and 4 million defensive gun uses a year.
Duke University economist Philip Cook is a critic of the gun industry. In 1994 he helped conduct a survey intended to show a national police group how often Americans claimed to rely on their guns.

That poll of 2,500 persons projected more than 4 million defensive gun uses in a year, topping even Kleck's estimates
The survey results showed that most often, the mere brandishing of a firearm to a criminal was enough to thwart the crime. Another study, by Prof. John Lott of the University of Chicago, showed that by adopting "shall issue" concealed carry handgun laws, 31 states have reduced murders, on average, by 7.7 %, rapes by 5 %, aggravated assaults by 7 % and robbery by 3%. If those states that did not permit concealed handguns in 1992 had permitted them back then, citizens would have been spared approximately 1,570 murders, 4,177 rapes, 60,000 aggravated assaults and 12,000 robberies.

Ok, so Im willing to say 100,000 uses, where the persons life was in danger. So lets be bad and say.. hell, 20,000 innocent people are killed every year by guns..(How many would have lived if theyd been armed?) So now 80k more deaths with a gun ban; thats nice. How many soldiers have we lost? Less than a thousand I think. Ill admit some of those defensive gun uses were necessary due to other people having guns, but how many more crimes would occur if criminals knew people didnt have access to guns? Knives are quite powerful in the right hands, not to mention these assault bats that are coming out now. The most humorous and ironic of things to date, when they banned handguns in England, handgun crime went UP. Even though Bill and DiFi's little trick didnt work, hes still guilty of attempted murder on an unbelieveable scale.
"Criminals, we found, respond rationally to deterrence threats."

BTW, none of this came from the NRA or some,"Gun site" research is under rated. Oh, 42,815 people were killed in auto accidents in 2002. Perhaps we should ban cars, after all, once we convert to communism, we can just have people work near where they live.

The Institute of Medicine made this startling revelation in a 1999 report to Congress. In hospitals alone, according to the report, medical negligence kills between 44,000 and 98,000 people a year.
Doctors kill people too, see!? No, its not misuse, doctors are cop killing machines! Think of how many LEOs were in those numbers! Sure, doctors save countless lives every year, but why would we want to consider that?
