I got ISSA certified recently and work on a contract basis at a private studio. I absolutely love it! Starting your own business is great as long as you have the capital to get it going and sustain yourself until you build a client base. Not something I'm able to do at the moment. Good luck!
But when you disarm them, you at once offend them by showing that you distrust them, either for cowardice or for want of loyalty, and either of these opinions breeds hatred against you.

The only way to do it is to make your own business and train clients outside of a "chain" gym, otherwise you are always going to be paying that gym. But, you have to start somewhere and don't cut your ties to the major gym because if something happens to your clients and they end up stopping training or go away or get injured you are screwed. Always maintain the minumum at a chain gym so that you have a steady source of income and the option to pick up more clients there if needed. The on the outside do your other business and they will both feed themself and you will be rolling. Remember, it takes time to build clientele though.
