I agree Rosa Parks and Mother Theresa did NOT deserve the medal of honor(Some semi-nobel peace prize, perhaps..), it was an obvious political tool. In this case its just as bad though.. perhaps worse. Its similar to saying,"Thanks for helping me, heres 5 million dollars from the US treasury." Blair did nothing more than the rest of the UN was SUPPOSED to do following resolution 1441. If Bush gave Blair a medal, than the leaders of all of the countries(Including, but not limited to- Spain, Australia, Germany) that assisted in the war deserve the medal.
Actually, Germany deserves a medal MUCH more than England. In Afghanistan(anyone remember that war on terrorism..?), German casualties towered high above ours; We bombed from the skies, and the German troops went in and secured the caves. We had ground troops in there as well, but apparently US commanders were more than happy to let the Germans take the risky areas.
It pisses me off to see that medal given to anyone if its politically expedient. We have far too many soldiers who should have been buried with that to even consider using it as a gesture of,"Thanks for the support"
Blair wont accept it, obviously, because England was heavily against the war, and it could cost him.. and maybe.. just maybe he has enough self respect to know why its been offered anyways.

I'm afraid I am right, Mandela remade himself when the cold war ended and he lost his Soviet/Cuban backing. He was a dedicated communist and was a "useful fool" for the Soviets who had spent considerable resources to gain control of southern Africa and its riches. If anything Mandela and the ANC was even more brutal against their own if suspected of aiding the apartheid regime in any way. Their favorite torture was called the "necklace" which was burning someone alive by wrapping a tire around their neck and lighting it. It's rather difficult to raise discussion points with someone who has no desire to consider anything beyond the RightWing Manifesto. Most of everything you write as "fact" could usually be pretty easily refuted, but you already have a rigidly established worldview that can only tune into information produced by a limited number of revolutionary revisionists.
