Angry All my friends layed off from work

Well we just got the news to day that our company is moving the IT dept to freaking Costa Rica. WTF. It affects our Network, messaging, and midrange teams. All my friends are loosing their jobs. I am not affected (yet) because I'm in desktop support. They cant fix hardware problems from costa rica. This really sucks. How many off you have been through this?

    ^^ Layoffs? Outsourcing abroad?

    This is only the BEGINNING.

Anything is worth going to costa rica for

On a serious note, I have been on the receiving end of Layoffs twice. They suck ass, but the good thing is, I have tons of contacts at dozens of companies now that know my skill sets and will hire me after I get outsourced again to India.

Sorry to hear that man. I was layed off from two dotcoms a fews years back and it sucks. I've moved out of the tech sector into business management as I was sick of jobs moving to India. At one point about 60% of my tech friends were jobless, some of them were out of work for over a year.

    Hang in there.

Write the President and get people in your community to sign petitions to bring WalMart to your town.

Yeah well lets all run out and buy those cheap hard drive and chips, clothing, and cell phones. The American consumer is whats driving these jobs away, along with the new world-wide economy thats exporting $10 for every American $ it imports. People say "fuck walmart" but every time I drive by the place the parking lot is full.

Eventually America will only have service jobs, all the manufacturing will be done elswhere. Most of all high-tech. Its a sad thing when people lose their jobs....take care...................Rich

I dont have answers and its all far beyond my control. We dont have anywhere else to buy these things because they arent "made in America" anymore, neither are many things.

Manufactureing has mostly left our shores. And we'll never see it come back again....take care.......Rich
