I made it out from Biloxi

Well, I was supposed to be down there until Oct. Arrived on Sunday.

Monday, they inform me I will have to go into a shelter about a mile from the water or leave and come back afterwards ( shelter elevation 33 Feet). Tuesday, you can either shelter, or your unit could disenroll me from the class I was there to attend. Call back my unit, and say "Get me the hell out of here." They sent the message about 30 minutes later, and I was released.

Call the airline and change to change my flight. 7 am Wed morning. Call the airline back at 8 pm Tuesday evening to ensure flight was still sheduled. Nope, it was cancelled because of the Hurricane. Ask if I can schedule a flight from somewhere else. Yes, where will you be departing from? Knowing the airline has regional service from Monroe, LA I pick that. 1:47pm dept. Normally a 4-5 hour drive from Biloxi. I planned on it being double that with the evacs in progress.

This morning I got up and commenced the drive from HELL. Took me 9 hours, but I made my flight. (I left Biloxi at 3:30 am). Spent total of 3 hours in the air, with a 1.5 hour layover inbetween flights.

I made it. Home again. 14 hours of driving and flying.

I really for the people that live in that region. I think this one is going to do alot of damage. I'll pray that damage is not extensive, and nobody dies. Good Luck to all that live in the coastal areas.

Hey guy - I'm glad you made it out of there safe and sound. . .the last report I saw tonight showed landfall somewhere between Mobile and Biloxi, so we were a little concerned about you being there.

We have evacuees staying all the way up here in my region (southern Illinois, southeast Missouri, western Kentucky). As far from the coast as we are, they've already predicted rain here from Ivan by the end of the week. Usually that stuff goes much farther east of us.

Thanks for letting us know you got out of there safely.
