But when you disarm them, you at once offend them by showing that you distrust them, either for cowardice or for want of loyalty, and either of these opinions breeds hatred against you.

    1) unemployed - did R&D in telecommunications for about 10+ years. Will be running a branch office of a national mortgage company in about a month.

    3) Pros - Great salary and stock options, etc. Cons - no job stability in big companies anymore (hence the reason I am unemployed)

    Hey,

Wow, thanks for your responses!! After doing some more thinking today i'm leaning towards doing an after education degree in elementary. I think I would really enjoy this and the whole idea of summers off is pretty great. If i wanted to do sports writing, i could probably just do some free lance work or whatever and try to go about getting a job that way. And like you guys were saying, it's not so much what the degree is. I think either way though i might take a year off and just see what type of work i could get with my phys ed degree....and after 16 years of school straight, i'm definetely ready for a break!! I'm currently working as a personal trainer and that's great money and fun and everything, but i'm not sure if I see it as a career that I would do for a long time.
    Thanks again for your help!

    1. Paraproffesional/soccer coach at my old h.s., rockstar at night
    2. bachelors in comm. @ UConn (had nothing to do with my current job)
    3. I have absolutely the best job i've ever had. I work 7-2:30, M-F. The whole morning i LITERALLY hang with the kids, mess around on the computer and eat breakfast, then i eat lunch, then i'm in internal-suspension the last 2 periods (where i try to talk to the troublemakers and put some sense in 'em).

The best part about it is i'm still young so i relate to all these kids' lives/opinions/actions/thoughts etc. But at the same time, i already went through eveyrthing they're doing and then some (college), so i can give 'em a little insight.

    absolutely LOVE my job.
You're a funny guy, Sully, I like you. Dat's why I'm going to kill you lahst.

i subbed for 2 years, pretty much every subject of every grade. IMO, 6th graders were the best. They are old enough that you don't have to babysit them like you do elem. kids, but they are still young so they love being in school and still listen to you.

although now that i'm permanently at the h.s., i love the hs kids too.

if you don't mind babysitting as well as teaching, you could go into elem. school.....
