Wow, that's hard to take in. What an awesome guy.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain...

I didn't really care for the guy much as a person, but was sorry to hear that he died. He made a lot of great accomplishments, especially as Superman. The symbol of this great super hero will never die.

That's terrible, I loved his movies. Anyone see Somewhere in Time? It's a total chick movie, but it was filmed in Michigan, thus every high school played it. I loved that movie, but the Superman movies were awesome. RIP

Randy I was just about to post that sad story.

But here is the link http://story.news.yahoo.com/fc?cid=3...istopher_Reeve

I always thought that Christopher was an outgoing human being who didn't deserve what has happened to him & the life he's lived.

I enjoyed seeing him on Smallvill last year as Dr. Swan who knew Clark kent's secret as he was studying the whole ancient script writing in the show.

I guess that's why the original Lois Lane Margo what's her name came on the season premier in place of Dr. Swan (Christopher Reeves) a few weeks ago.

Christopher Reeves died of a complication from a bed sore that turned into a huge infection.

I know how important these things are to keep clean & treat them as my Mother has been in the hospital with Lupus & Osteoporosis since 1984 & has been bed ridden the last 8yrs. She had bed sores at times & still does & when the stupid staff of the hospital doesn't treat them properly or change dressings regularly, that's when problems occur.

I still can't believe that the man that played SuperMan as a kid is gone.

My thoughts & prayers are with him & his family.

I "heard" he was quite the asshole of a person before his accident.

either way it's sad indeed, I was a big superman fan as a kid.

Well holding celebrity status does that too ppl sometimes, I mean look at the type of person William Shatner is & even now with his new show Boston Legal.

So you can't always blame them even though you do have control over what type of person you are.

I do not think gaining celebrity status is reason to become an asshole, chances are the person was an asshole to begin with.

I agree, but sometimes a person can let all the fame & fortune go to their head & develop big ego syndrome.

I just can't believe he died as he was starting to gain back motor skills.

Personally I think that sometimes it's not worth taking up hobbies that can be
dangerous as can horse back riding.

I just think it's awful what happened to him overall.

Yeah, I seen him on talk shows and stuff prior and didn't like him much, and as you said heard a lot of negative things about him prior to that.

But as superman, we all see him as the legend and super hero that he is and I think we all idolized him as kids.

Well at least on a positive note, the legend will live on.

And Bone Crusher ... I heard that by the way

And thanks for the additional information Johnnny.

Yeah, but you can't live life in fear like that.

    Weightlifting can be dangerous.

'SuperMan' will live on forever...In the future when people walk away from spinal cord injury they will remember Christopher Reeve.

True, true, but some things just aren't worth the risk.

Although I was never really friends with him, one fellow I went to highschool with, was paralized while sky diving.

Or ppl that die bungy jumping from having the cords snap.

    I 2nd that notion.

Some thought he was going to be able to walk again soon as he was regaining some of his motor skills.

But I'm sure some day they will be able to make ppl walk again after spinal cord injuries.

It wasn't long after Reeve's horse accident that actor from MIB & US Marshalls along with other great films Tommy Lee Jones was thrown from his horse & had to go to the hospital. I thought that the same thing was going to happen to him to.

The only thing i kinda didn't like about his whole situation is his attempt to bring attention to spinal chord research. Don't get me wrong, i think its great, but the thing i don't like is that he wouldn't have gave a flying fuck about spinal chord research had he not broken his neck, right?

Just like Magic Johnson wouldn't have gave two shits about AIDS had he not contracted it. Or mothers who's relatives died from drunk drivers wouldn't care about drunk driving unless it affected them.

My point is, people only seem to care when something affects them, otherwise they could care less. IMO, people like Mother Theresa, who worked her whole life to help others, is truely admirable. These other people only care b/c they got hurt in the first place...

Right, but I think we would all act the same, I do not care about spinal chord research either, but if I became paralyzed I am sure I would start caring.

I was going to bring up the similar point..

I agree and feel it is pretty evident that people would not provide as much priority toward caring or supporting for any life impacting situation, unless they in fact encountered the misfortune themselves. The point is however, this does not mean that as a celebrity or successful figures, they can't donate and offer some support to one or more of the various needy causes. In other words try to spread the wealth a little bit to help people. I think that is the main point, Christopher Reeves was a selfish tight asshole before his accident, and until then did he recognize and support the disabled. Maybe this is not true at all, but I believe that is the way the guy in Prince's article perceived him.

But outside of all this I believe he was a very arrogant person and I didn't like him.
