Would N E 1 buy or has bought satellite equipment from EBAY?
I was wondering if anyone would buy or has bought satellite equipment & accessories on EBAY?
I was on it before & saw some pretty good stuff.
I'm just curious do you guys think that you might be buying fried equipment or would it most of the time be legit?
Or would that depend on prices? For example products that are really cheap, could they be broken or non functional compared to higher prices which match the market price better?

If I were in the market for it I dont see why not, but I am not up to snuff on equipment compatibility by region and things of that nature.
I've had maybe around 80 transactions on eBay and I wouldn't hesitate to use it again.
So I guess you're not into satellite tv all that much?
For someone who is into satellite tv, you would recommend EBay I guess from what you're saying?
Some ppl say that their private contacts use ebay for their equipment they sell to their clients w/o problems while other ppl feel that ebay for electronics any way is not always reliable.
I guess no one else other than Mudge has an opinion regarding this topic?
well due you already have sat? if not you can get everthing you need for free but if you already have a subscription like mudge say i would only buy something from someone who has good feedback

Well I already have a subscription, but I'm looking to make some modifications.

You looking at American or Canadian Sat.
I have Canadian, but I maybe looking to make some mods to pick up American, but contacts charge about $600 for an American System so if I could find a pre-programmed system for $150-$200 Canadian that would be great.
I've bought and sold tons of stuff on Ebay, so I wouldn't have a problem with Ebay as far as purchasing electronics. What I would be wary of is buying any subscription type electronic equipment second hand - be it from Ebay or elsewhere.
I know that with second hand cell phones, if the phone has been reported stolen or if the original owner didn't pay his bill.. the cell phone company will not activate the phone to your account, no matter where you bought it. I don't know if this is true for satellite equipment, but I'd check into it before I bought anything used. If you're looking into buying mods to get some extra channels, then all bets are off. They change the programming a lot, and some guy who lives 500 miles away isn't likely to care if it stops working a month after you get it.
Johnny I worked in the sat biz for many years an have been an ebay freak for almost as long. One year I spent $3000 on Christmas ... every penny earned from selling unmodified "H" cards on ebay. Get into detail about what you want and I will help ya out. Be very detail oriented. Are you gonna subscribe for service or use mods to get the milk for free? HDTV your goal? A hard drive for TIVO type options? PM me if it helps.
I just bought an aquarium book from Ebay and I am waiting for a silver and jade bong from China.
I hope you get it, but w/o the fish LOL

Yeah I hear you, not too mention a nice paper trail leading to your address. This was one of the subjects that concerns me
