Should I ask whether you are using Diesel MYCAT? before being called a dummy like from Bone Crusher.

    BoneCrusher,

I am surprised being in the car business that you don't know that running additional accessories such as an air conditioner puts an additional load on the engine, therefore consumes more gas. The air conditioner compressor pulley turns by your engine my friend. Did you ever notice that there is a pulley that connects to your compressor? What runs your engine? = Gas

But irregardless...you are saying that because someone may be wrong or misinformed about a specific subject that it justifies calling them a Dummy. But didn't that all come about because I implied you were using gas and not Diesel. Ahhhhh who knows... I am tired and going to relax and watch a movie now.

Normally I wouldn't have taking it seriously, but since he didn't add a smiley after his comment, and since he didn't reply to my subsequent messages I thought he might just be serious. If you were joking, my apology for being defensive.

Randy ... dude ... I was not trying to whack on ya. My AC runs on 110/220 volts was what was in my mind so I made a quick comeback thinking you'd get it. As far as the myth that your car is gonna eat up more gas with the AC on fagedaboudit ... your engine uses about 8 horse to run your AC. Not enough to notice when you average it out per mile. Low tire inflation costs you more than that ... actually about a mile per gallon.

I was not trying to burn ya man you're a good guy in my book Randy.

The price of gas is being driven up by speculation on Wall St. It's not the fault of any politicians, it's the fault of investors hoping to make a buck. Right now, oil futures are on bubble (very similar to the dot com bubble a few years back). That bubble is gonna break and you'll see prices fall soon..... if I had to guess, I'd say right after the election.

Some people are even grumbling that certain investors have driven up oil futures in the hopes of influencing the election.... no one would do that would they?? .. Naw, not in the USA.

Contrary to popular beleif it's not Bush's fault nor is it the Nigerian rebels fault. It's our fault our demand is fast gaining on our supply as it does the prices will raise exponentially. More SUV's roll off the dealers lots than do Hybrids.

I like the hybrid ... but they just look soooo small. If I get side impacted in a hybrid I'm screwed. In an SUV maybe not so much.

Every hybrid I've seen looks extremely ugly
I think they would have a much better market for them if they could improve the looks and drop the price of the battery. I know in the long run they may pay for themselves... but dayammmm I heard they were like 5000.00 to replace a battery. I could be wrong on that exact cost since I am going from memory, but I know it was sure high. People can still argue that gas is high too I guess.

Phrased a bit differently than me, but "absolutely Lam!"... I agree.

If I was going for fuel economy at the present time I would go with the
honda civic.... still not that sporty, but a 5 car crash rating and awsome gas mileage. Keep in mind that is just if I wanted to go for ultimate gas, economy, and practicality. But being the truck guy that I am, I think I will go with a Tacoma pre-runner. Since I don't need the 4-wheel drive, but like the rugged look and not to mention having the extra ground clearance when you need it... I think that is what I will be leaning toward. My prior decision was leaning toward a Ford Lariat, but with gas the way it is I changed my mind.

The Prius has an 8 year/100,000 mile warranty on the Battery, yeah it's around $5000-$6000 to replace, but in 8 years hybrids will be outdated as electric and hydrogen cars start catching our eye. Also the technology for solid electrolyte lithium-ion batteries is in the works to replace the current Nickel Metal Hydrides.
