Who really gives a flip abot flu vaccines? I'd say the country has MUCH greater priorities. When did it become government's job to insure that the commercial market place had enough inventory of anything? Why don't we have a vaccine against liberalism and whiners (haha)?

I keep asking myself the same question. Honestly, if Super Fresh is out of Chicken breast I don't blame the President.

Your grandma won't get sick and die from not having chicken breasts.

My grandfather died from complications of pneumonia after getting the flu last year.

Please accept my belated condolences. Seriously, that sucks.

It's pretty obvious why you have a keen interest in this particular subject. I'd just like to direct your attention/energy to where I think the problem lies.

That does suck, manic. IMO, it still should be up to the Drs/pharmacies to make sure it is available. I cannot believe that a company does not find the flu vaccine a profitable venture.

The government should subsidize these pharmaceutical companies to have extra meds on hand instead of subsidizing tobacco.

"Three influenza pandemics occurred during the 20th century. The most recent influenza pandemic occurred in 1968 with the Hong Kong Flu outbreak, which resulted in nearly 34,000 deaths in the United States. In 1957, the Asian flu pandemic resulted in about 70,000 deaths. The most deadly influenza pandemic outbreak was the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic, which caused illness in roughly 20 to 40 percent of the world's population and more than 50 million deaths worldwide. Between September 1918 and April 1919, approximately 675,000 deaths from the Spanish flu occurred in the United States alone."

I really hate to sound unsympathetic or insensitive about al this guys but death is natures way of culling the heard and making way for the new. The average age of death through natural causes is quite high in this country. True it could be higher if people took better care of themselves with better nutrition and physical conditioning. But I'd rather the money be spent on training people about the dangers of obesity than the gov subsidising the mass production and management of new catch-all vaccines each year. The body need to develop antibodies to fight things naturally so it can adapt to the millions of mutations that are out there. I think the vaccines result in an acceleration of the mutations and they are not compatable with natural selection over the long run. Getting everyone all afraid that they need to stand in line each year like a sheep to get a shot of go-goop is just wrong headed and plays on peoples fears. People need to remmber that they can live and prosper if they can become more independent and not rely on a big health care industry to keep them alive and on life support for as long as their life savings and insurance are still funded.

No harm no foul, my grandfather never used the flu vaccine before, but last year he was advised by his Dr. to get it and he kept the same attitude that vaccines lead to weaker immunity so he shunned it. If just that one time he would have taken the shot he may still be here and I would have my last living grandparent still. I took my GF's great-grandfather(86) to get his shot last saturday before his trip to Vegas this week, for some the extra precaution is very much worth it. Flu took me down twice last year making me miss 5 day's of work that's money I didn't get to spend, multiply that by the thousands that get the flu every year and it comes out to alot of money not taxed so the Government should be worried.
