    Animal cruelty WARNING:Horrible image

This bastard that I will not say the name, put those defenseless and poor animals in the cage all day, looking at the poster of a flying bird.
    That is so sick.

He should put up a picture of a KFC bucket of Chicken, then they'll appreciate their fate more.
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

I just looked at the images of a Sun Conure, they look so good. Now I have a very friendly cockatiel, before I thought about buying a Cockatoo or other big bird but they are so damn expensive and loud. I like birds, some time ago I thought it was just cruel to let them live without flying but I don´t see it that way anymore.

i dont think lack of flight is cruel... i think birds lives are very much enriched by the close companionship they share with their human partners... Crono's bird "Pecker" treats him as if he were her mate... she loves and adores him... she freaks out if shes not with him and she bites me if i come close to him. My sun conure squaks in the mornings because it wants to come cuddle me... it likes to lay his head down on the pillow, close his eyes and take a nap with me.

it is too lame to put birds to in cage. I do'nt agree with anyone in this case.
The same thing for breeding fish in a small tank.
It is nth but imprisoning animals with no criminal offence.

I am an atheist but no one has to right to inflict pain on animals for no reason. It is just reasonable enough to kill animals for food or for self defence.

Those birds that are born in breeders cannot be released in nature. Most of them will die in the first week, they are pets. The really wrong thing is to take wild animals from nature.

Is that rat a spelunker? What I mean is, does crono ever play pretty woman wth it? You know, where he plays Richard Gere and the Chinchilla plays the gerbil.... Oh My!
If sense were common, everyone would have it.

I wonder do you have the same opinion about cats and dogs?
i agree that perhaps it was a mistake to originally bring animals out of the wild and domesticate them but it has already been done. In the US it is illegal to capture wild parrots so all the birds you see now are bred in captivity and like veopipe said it would be impossible to return them to the wild since they do not have the necessary survival skills. I do not feel that i inflict any type of cruelty to my beloved birds by having them. They are like perpetual todlers I treat them as my children and their cage is no more than a craddle to put them in at night. I cook for them, I play with them and I pamper them constantly. Anyone who has ever owned a parrot can tell you that you never really own a parrot, it owns you. They are very intelligent and strong bonding... in the wild they mate for life, and they treat us as their lifemates. I admit that a lot of people dont know how to properly care for their birds and they treat them just as ornaments to be displayed in cages. And its true that many birds will not live their full lifespan because people who buy them dont know how to give them the best quality of life. I am part of an educational effort to change that... I work with an avian veterinarian who offers free seminars on proper bird husbandry in order to educate the public, I support the creation of a bill that would require people to obtain a liscense and have their homes inspected before being allowed to purchase a bird, and someday I want to open up a sanctuary to rescue abandoned and ill treated parrots. But you can never tell me that the life I give my birds is cruel, I'm quite certain they would disagree with you

I agree if the bird was raised in the wild, and was then caught to be sold as a pet.

But in most cases now, the bird was born and raised in a cage - it know's nothing else, therefore it's not being deprived of anything. Put it this way - what if humanity actually lived on a planet 50 times the size of earth where we had wings and could fly around. You, I, and the people all around us on this earth had our wings clipped and were placed in this "cage" from birth - you don't feel this is a cruel existence, do you? Because you dont know anything else, and thus have no urge to experience the "real world." You don't know what you're missing, literally.
