Did one of them yell "YEEHAW"?
Looks like they bagged a couple of buildings.
I hope they're up wind so the DU doesn't drift back on them.
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

Manlicon normally I'd say that I find your flying of the American flag upside down offensive. But since I already found you offensive prior to doing so I wont bother. I will however ask you to stop doing so, at the very least in honor of those that died for you to have the right to do so.

If I remember right you said your a USN vet? Correct? Please stop exhibiting the flag in such a way? You can make your points without doing so.

    Thank you..............Rich

    Rich,

If you take down your Avatar of the American flag with you standing with a gun, which I feel reflects the bully attitude of my nation, I'll take down my symbol of national distress that you find offensive.

Manlicon the flag is at least upright and in a proud position. The avatar also represents the Americans who have served their country, including you and Dimaggio, often at great risk to themselves. Were both adults and we both know the difference between the two. For my own part the US flag flys in front of my house every day and I wear it on my person every day too. Even when not in uniform.

And I do so out of respect for those who have suffered and died so I can have so much. For the same reasons I show it in my avatar.

Make any points you want. Any American has the right to say what they want, most of all a military veteran. But I'm asking you to not show the flag like that. I kid a lot here but this one time I'm asking respectfully. And tho it may mean nothing to you I'd have great respect for you if you took it down and I'd never mention it again.

My comments about being offensive were inappropriate and I apologize for them....................take care...............Rich

What i do feel is sorrow and pain for the families of the 1,200 people who have served our country and died for a cause i feel is very unjustified.

    Agreed.

I watched the video out of curiosity and found it interesting in that sense, but I don't like the "Yeah, LET'S FUCKING KILL SOME PEOPLE!!!" attitude people have about watching that shit. If the video showed a couple of our guys getting killed, you wouldn't be getting all excited about it. These are soldiers doing what they have to do, but I don't get the whole celebratory attitude over watching people get killed.

You know what, it is bad that people have to die. But it is the scumbags that have no feeling or meaning for life that they kill innocent people. So I have no bad feelings about blowing the hell out of them. Personally I think they should have leveled the place by aircraft, then went in and cleaned up dead bodies without any loss of our guys. Wheather or not you agree with what is going on, these guys are proud to be doing there jobs so you and others can bitch and I personally don't think that is right. You have a right to your opinion and I have a right to mine. But if somewhere in the past our guys hadn't stood up, we wouldn't have that option. Just think if you were unlucky enough to be in one of those countries. You wouldn't be voicing your opinion then. Food for thought. That is all.............carry on.

All the soldiers i know didn't even vote for Bush in this past election Perhaps they don't even agree with the conflict either.

And so i can bitch? Tell me why we're even in Iraq, first of all.

Secondly, Yes, i am thankful for the millions of American soldiers standing up and fighting in such wars WW2, and all the other JUSTIFIED conflicts of our great nation's history. But when we go into places where we have no business being so we can throw our weight around, i think that plain sucks.

Last I checked, 33 have died. If I had the choice I'd go and fight like hell for those guys! Many don't know what it is like to protect each others back and become dependant on partners. I've seen a buddy in another small town get taken out by a high power rifle over a domestic dispute. When the call came in, every officer in the county responed to help out. When bad guys take out a buddy, it's hell to pay!

Again I say, it doesn't matter what you think. Even the guys that didn't vote for Bush, took an oath to do their job, no questions asked. They know that going in. They can't bitch either, although I bet they don't.

This election included, military personnel vote about 80% Republican. Not trying to pick a fight, just mentioning a statistic.

    Rich,

I'm sick of seeing American flags on everything, I'm sick of the little yellow ribbons by hollow souls who just want to show their support, but don't want to actually get involved. They stick their cheap Made in China displays all over, but when I want to make a statement suddenly I'm a bad guy. How about tying up yellow ribbons for veterans year round and not just the ones fighting now just because it's a fad and you want to be with the in crowd. If you want to support democracy then question everything.

Yeah Bob................we are. Every day were both killing and capturing more and more non-Iraqis bent on finding paradise by killing westerners. What else would you call them? "Just passing thru"? Then we have whats left of Saddam's crew trying to destroy any hopes for Democracy and freedom in that tortured country. What would you call them? "Freedom fighters"?

To our credit we haven't just annihilated the place and have made every effort to avoid civilian casualties. You were in the army right? You know what the US military is capable of. We've poured billions of our wealth into the place trying to build a future for its tortured people. Instead of stealing their oil we've not only paid a fair price for it but used our own money to rebuild their infrastructure. Have "connected Industrialists" made money off of the conflict? Yeah! But name one war in human history where they haven't?

Saddam would have always been a threat. He killed more innocents then Osama will in 1,000 lifetimes. He tormented and murdered his own people by the millions, started two major wars, developed a huge WMD capacity, and came this close to getting the bomb. He Flipped off International law to many times to count the whole time creating his own underground economy avoiding the sanctions of the UN, indeed using the greed and corruption at the UN as a willing partner. And yes! Without access to ME oil our entire economy would disintegrate. I'm afraid oil IS one of the only few good reasons to go to war and Saddam was, and always would have been, a threat to our oil supply.

Nobody hates seeing those kids fighting and dieing over there more then I. I spent 19 mos in that shithole of a region and when this started I gave it a 50%/50% chance at best for democracy to spread.

But its the only way! We have to spread democracy and freedom in these dictatorships or our kids will inherit a nightmare future and we have no right to only look thru the glass of our own lifetimes. Until these terrorist wombs accept democracy, give human rights to their peoples, womans rights, freedom of speech, and most of all have Govt.'s,Police, and Militarys that are answerable to the people. Ive lived in Police states and I didn't much like it. Its a big reason I became a Policeman and I know I joke and bust balls a lot here but I take the individual rights and human rights of the people I come into contact with as a Policeman very seriously. Even the monsters I sometime take into custody.

And no matter what the cost we have to remove these various tyrants and install freedom and democracy even if we have to do it thru force of arms. And The reason civilians aren't dieing here is because our magnificent boys and girls are killing the enemy on their own ground. We cannot allow a future where tyrants and terrorists have access to WMDs, even such weapons as man-portable SA missiles can create tremendous havoc.

If "we" were "bully's" we wouldn't even be having this discussion. We would have bombed Iraq until the few survivors were pleading for mercy. The entire regions oil would be under our control and any country dumb enough to resist us would be in a smoking ruin right now.

But we aren't bully's. We are the most giving and forgiving nation in history and while we've made terrible mistakes in the past I believe we've learned from them. And we have a right to protect ourselves and we should never allow such decisions to be made by a UN vote because they dont give a shit about us. The UN, in fact the whole world, is making decisions based on their own personal agendas.

Nobody wants to say it but this IS a war between two very different ideologies. Personally I believe in the side of democracy, human rights, womans rights, elected leaders, and rule of law. And if you think "their side" is anywhere close to that then you've either led a very sheltered life or should spend a few months in just such a place...thank you.........................................Rich

I dont think your a bad guy. You served your country with honor right? I just think its in bad taste for a veteran to be showing the flag in such a way while our troops are fighting and suffering in that terrible place.

But it IS a free country. I suppose you can do what you want................................Rich

Earlier that day, the same group of marines were hit by another insurgant who was playing dead and had an improvised bomb and when they got close he set it off and killed 4 or 5 I think. So that is why he didn't take any chances. I wouldn't have either. But you will not hear that on the news!

If you were in the military and have that opinion, I've lost all respect.
