You should enjoy it. Atleast you have family to spend it with. My family all leaves on vacation, so I am left all alone(I have to work). IMO you should enjoy the time you spend with your loved ones. It could be worse, you could be me.

I see you're 22 Katia7. That was around the age I started to fire those family members that I didn't like ... aunts & uncles & cousins a such. I had a drunk uncle I did not like. When I was a kid I took the chore of mixing his drinks ... always made him triples so he'd pass out by 3:00pm at the latest. I'd tell my other aunt that her husband was looking at my mom's chest a lot ... she'd start on him right away without saying why. But I never missed the chance to be around my brothers or mom while they were alive. They are all dead now so I will not ever get that chance again. I was in my late teens when I lost my mother and in my mid to upper 20's when I lost my brothers.

Shut up and stop being grouchy about having the chance to see the people you love. Ignore or even bug the people you don't like in your family. You will lose those close to you one by one much sooner than you believe. Enjoy them now and say Thanks!

I agree. Learn to enjoy your family because they are blood and blood is thicker than water. They will be the one to help when you fall and they will ALWAYS be the only ones with your best interest at heart. By the time you finally learn to appreciate them is the time it may be too late. Learn while you are young and you will enjoy your family as much as they enjoy you.

My family is my lifeline, without them, I am nothing.

You have to forgive him, he has Alzheimer's disease

The old man really means well, but ever since he lost his male companion he has been a little bitter.

Below is a picture of the old man down and out

This one would fit in so well at all my family gatherings.

Trader. Welcome to the boards here at IM. You've met our elder statesman Albob. Get to know him cuz he is a good old man and our favorite. You will never again get the chance to meet someone who has met the Pope. Well, actually all of them. Rumor has it he cleaned the stalls after Jesus was born. Point is he is our Albob ... be nice to him. There can be only one ...

My folks and I are fleeing Phoenix and go to Prescott for the Thanksgiving thank fuck! My relitives want my mother and myself to cook for like the 6th year in a row.

So this Thanksgiving, my folks and I are gonna give our relitives the big and go spend the day in Prescott Arizona.

Nope wasn't trying to be a dick. But since you didn't bother to ask for an explanation before firing the first shot I see no reason to show any regret. You've got five whole posts on this board. Wow, that certainly makes you an expert on who's who and what's what around here. OK, your life sucks. How about talking about it a bit instead of just doing a drive-by. Then maybe you'd find that everybody here, (Yes, me included) is willing to lend a compassionate ear. Until then don't expect any slack. So, your life's fucked up right now? Join the club. We've all been there at one time or another. You want to impress somebody? Quite whining about it, get off your ass and DO something about it. If all you do is TALK to us, at least it's something. Until you're willing to show me you're going to DO something about it yeah, you're life's a fuking joke to me.

Rules? You mean we have RULES for that???

I have nothing against my family (I'm actually really good friends with my cousin's wife)... any other holiday is fine with me because there's actually things to do. It's the Thanksgiving that I absolutely hate. There's nothing to do and I'm allergic to half of the food on the table.

Don't worry, as long as you don't start seeing everything w/4 legs as a potential mate, you'll have nothing on Rich.

Or me.

Since we moved into my partner's mother's house to take care of her, we seem to have been disinvited to my sister's house for Thanksgiving. I guess one more seat at the table is too much. In fact, my sister asked last year if there wasn't someone else to stay with the old lady.

So, we spent last Thanksgiving and this year at home, alone. We had a small turkey from work, and a Spanish style ham that I made.

And nobody even called to ask what we were doing. Yeah, it's all about family, huh?

There's thosands of miles of water, mountains and desert between my family and me and they still find a way to harass me, damn telephones! I love my brother and sister, but they are very selfish, on drugs and fight over money and leech off of my Mom. My parents divorced when I was 5 and I lived with my Dad all my life so I'm not that close to my Mom, I only saw my Aunts, uncles and cousin's at funerals so I don't know them at all. I'm content with my new family here in Hawaii, sometimes it's cool to reinvent your family at least you get to pick and choose.
