sorry you are maybe a very nice guy but i love these dogs n although i do agree that some dogs are undeniably game to fight, even to death, we as humans should protect them even from themselves. also many pits are great family animals and i have seen this for myself so you can't tell me they are timebombs that is just silly. and it does sound like you are defending the so called sport of fighting dogs. if you don't support people fighting dogs say so your post is confusing.

I agree. 100%. I love them too. Just because I lived that life does not mean I dont. They are and always will be my favorite type of dog. Please notice that I said that my next dog was going to be a weigh pulling dog.

also many pits are great family animals and i have seen this for myself so you can't tell me they are timebombs that is just silly
. I never said that. Please re-read my post. I said that pits who are not properly bred COULD be ticking time bombs. You may like these dogs, but Ive lived with them for many, many years and also been around many many more people who have them. The majority of the ones that "go off" are the improperly bred ones. You may not like to hear that, but the truth is the truth. You've seen the house pets. Ive seen the house pets, the true fighters, AND the wannabe fighters used by the so called tough guys. Big difference

and it does sound like you are defending the so called sport of fighting dogs. if you don't support people fighting dogs say so your post is confusing.

Please re-read the entire post. Granted.....its from another thread, so maybe the entire context doesnt apply, but I thought most of it did since people always want to generalize this breed, even the well wishers. There's always a danger in not completely understanding anything, so I wrote that post as someone who had been on both sides of the story. There's a truth about these dogs that even the well wishers dont want to face, and thats an injustice to these dogs in my opinion. These dogs are the most lovable, family oriented, most intelligent, and brave dogs the world has ever known. They deserve to be known for all that they are. If you or anyone likes them so much, like I do, then please educate yourselves on them so that you may know the whole truth. Thats it. Nothing more, nothing less.

That video made me cry because Ive seen that stuff first hand. And its always the tough, wannabe, punks that do this. Ive never seen anyone else do it. I just wanted to show people the difference between what is, and what is not. And as I said,I wasnt trying to promote it. But the truth is the truth.

i read an article a long time ago in a biker magazine where a guy explained a lot about the spirit of these dogs and how it is their will to fight. it made perfect sense and no doubt he was right about most everything he said but i don't think anything justifies people being amused, awed or entertained by watching beautiful animals cause injury to one another. we are stronger, smarter and responsible.

Gameness? Spirit of a warrior? That is not really a good excuse to promote these type of sport.
Just because an animal doesn´t have agression towards humans doesn´t mean they are born to fight other dogs and almost kill themselves.

Player I think your "life" sucks. Ive seen your "life" many, many times and each times its disgusted me, most of all the "lifers". This post of yours was nothing but a bunch of horseshit trying to justify, and dodge guilt, for an inhuman and cruel sport. Ive heard all this before, mostly from white trash thats handcuffed to the wall, and each time I wonder "what is it in our nature that can make humans so casually cruel"? Ive seen Pits ripped open and biting themselves cause their in so much pain, only to have ole buck say, "oh ole blue, he's ok".

But you "pro's"? Your animals don't really feel pain right? Your sport is a noble one that goes back to the Romans right? Your fights are more like the super bowl then a dog fight right? The dogs instinct is to fight other dogs to the death right? Your pits never attack kids because they are so noble right? I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Hell, humans have tried to defend, and explain away, tossing 9 million other humans in ovens. Why should a bunch of hillbillys forcing dogs to fight to the death surprise me? Ive seen fighting rings so slick with blood you couldn't even walk in them. But hey! The elite pit fighter circuit is above that......right?

Now personally I think the breed, on the whole, is a piece of shit. I'd prefer if they were banned period! Ive put bullets thru 3 of them, owned by dopers, and would shoot another in a heartbeat before I took a bite from a pit. Almost all of our dog bites, dog attacks, and most of all kids bit by dogs, involve pits. Now I realize we don't have the noble breed lines like they do out there in banjo and bad teeth land, but still? The breed itself is no good.

But even the worst of them are far better then these "humans" that force them into a life of agony and fear. And I got one other news flash for all of you: After ole blue cant win no money anymore? If hes still alive that is, Its out in the back 40 where ole buck puts one into his head and then leaves him there. Ive spent a fair amount of time out "in dem dere hills" and I dem dere seen it happen.

Ive always felt human cruelty to animals is even worse then cruelty to other humans. Because unlike us the animals never committed any sin and even pits are nothing more then a pure bred by-product of our own cruelty . I always have a pair of handcuffs ready for the poorly bred mutts that fight them.........................................Rich

    No. It wasnt.

Our differences in life make it virtualy impossible to have a rational conversation about this topic due to its sensitivity. My life is not something I defend or even need to defend to anyone because I alone will answer for what I do and did and Im prepared to do so. With that being said *gets up and leaves table*.......please excuse me.

V-player my remarks weren't meant so much as a personal attack on you as they were on "that life". Your current sensitivity is a credit and pitbulls really deserve better don't they? Frankly I don't like bull fighting either, or any "sport" that senselessly torments animals for amusement and/or betting. Ive never been to a bull fight cause I'd end up rooting for the bull and would probably cause a riot. But dog fighting probably disgusts me more then any other as the cruelty involved is just almost beyond belief, and ,with mans best friend involved. Having owned ,and trained, hunting dogs my whole life Ive always lived in fear of some asshole stealing my dog out my yard and forcing him into the short tormented life of a ring fighter. I don't have a hunter right now, only a dog that looks somewhat like a pit ,and Im afraid to take my eyes off him.

Im sure the upper tier of dog fighting is a little more cultured, and possible even a little more humane, but still..............It is a senseless blood sport. If I had to guess I'd say that many of the dog fighters Ive come across have started their careers blowing up cats with M-80s or cooking frogs with lighter fluid. There just aint much a difference and while its sometimes a struggle to listen to the better angels of our nature Im glad you gave up that life. Both you and your dogs deserve better............................................ ........Rich
