What I did was just try to get something you like alot (Unicorns, flowers etc) or something that fits your personality.

You can go to a tattoo parlor and take a look at what they have or you can take a drawing or photo and they will free hand for you.

I've got two. I would suggest choosing a good surgen to remove it in 10 years. No, just don't get something stupid or by the seat of your pants. Tell the guy at the shop what type you are thinking and he or she may have some ideas.

So you prefer to get tattoos you think are uncool?
If sense were common, everyone would have it.

What do I need to look for when I get a tattoo?
a tattoo parlor possibly.... yeah I'm a smartass.
serisouly if you don't know what you want I suggest coming to that decision and waiting a year, and if you still want it then get it doen. The majority of people taht get tats usually end up wanting them removed. Not trying to talk you out of it, I am a fan of the tats, just make sure your positive your getting something you truly want and thats unique. GL

I just dont want to get ripped off when I get a small tattoo, charging me more than they suposed to
I also want a clean place

Hmm, are you sure you want to do this Sara? What if you change your mind in a couple of years? I would never get one, just because I change my mind a lot I have so many friends who regret their tattoos, it's quite sad.

so why do YOU want one?

my brother got the tackiest tattoo i've ever seen, but he had a good reason (to him anyway). His best friend died, and he got a tattoo in his memory, on his left arm. Tacky, but hey... it was a memorial to his best friend.

I could see that as a reason to get one. Or if you're in the military, or if you're in prison and have time to kill. But nowadays, a tattoo is just as common place and not-special-at-all as a second earring hole.

I'm not trying to discourage you, just wondering what drives your desire to get a tattoo...

I wanted one back when i was like 18. And even last year, i revisited the idea, but decided against it. That is EXPENSIVE, PAINFUL and PERMANENT. Even with a good surgeon, you can't FULLY remove it (unless there've been some advances in laser tattoo removal technology that I haven't yet heard of).

i have several tats and dont regret any of them. my advice to you is get something that describes who you are as a person ... maybe something you are passionate about. these idiots that go and get the # of their fav nascar driver or some sort of fad is completely stupid. find a place that is clean and also does excellent work. its permanent so pay more if thats what is takes to get top quality. all of this imo.

you should consider the latest fad or like your favorite TV show at the moment and tatoo it somewhere real visible like your forearm or face

I have a tattoo on my lower back & I think it's SWEET.. Look at my gallery I have a pic of my tat.. I want a couple more but just small one's.. Like a ram for Aries & a tiny butterfly.. Where do you live Sara? Do you have any friends that have tattoo's? I got mine done in Savanah, GA.. by a referral.. They did a clean & great job.. It cost about $100-$120.
