Not justifying Artest going into the stands BUT
if you recall, Artest was lying on the media
table when the fan initiated the assault
by throwing the cup of beer onto him.

The fan by the way has just been releaased from
jail and has a couple of DWI convictions under his belt
and the only media person that has publicized this is
ESPN's Dan Patrick.

As John Q I'd throw 'em a beatin. As a millionair ball stud I'd know I was going to get some shit tossed at me one way or another sooner ar later. I would get the gaurds to nab the punk that tossed the cup at me and have him removed ... quitely. I'd know that there was way more than just my own ass involved in any decisions I made or acted rashly on and I would not screw my team mates over. I know I'd do it that way by the way I've conducted myself in past situations. As someone who has managed large construction crews I've had to deal with jerks several times. I've had to keep company interests 1st and not dispense an asswhoopin to a needy person more than once. Part of being a man and handeling my business.

I do hope that the fan who started this crap does get the book thrown at him. I also hope he gets full press coverage and stops this from becoming a habit. We don't need this and should not allow it to become the institution it has become in countries like England.
