I went in, got checked, and he told me I needed $8,500 of dental work. Im currently seeking another route; one that does not include highway robbery.

Mine was with my orthodontist, when I was getting my wisdom teeth pulled out, I woke up during surgery. All i can remember was crunching noises, he had to break my teeth in little pieces to get it out. It was wierd not feeling any of it.

In 1998 I was working as a Courtesy Clerk for a Store in Laie.I had no Insurance, since I was a casual employee. My tooth was Hurting like Hell,I went to the dentist,He told me without insurance it would cost $400 dollars to fix.I made 350 a paycheck and my rent was 600,No way I could afford it,I asked how much to pull it,he said 40 bucks,I said pull it,He drilled for a long time(it hurt)Then he grabs this thing that looks like a screwdriver,he sticks it in the whole he drilled, and starts pushing from side to side,he cracks my tooth in pieces, then grabs these angled needle nose pliers and pulls out the pieces of tooth...worst ever for me.

Does getting a tooth removed from my elbow count as dental work? I was in a bar brawl and elbowed a dude in the kisser. My elbow became swollen then started to show signs of infection and after 5 days I was still in pain. A trip to my doc and an x-ray later showed the tooth lodged next to the cartledge ... that was painful.

I had to have a root canal about a year ago and that sucked. There was not any pain or anything, but it was just so damn inconvenient. It took four trips to get it done, with a 5th trip checkup.

Trip 1: Diagnosis by my regular dentist, followed a month later by...
Trip 2: Part 1 of root extract by root canal specialist, followed a month later by...
Trip 3: Part 2 of root extract by root canal specialist, followed six weeks later by...
Trip 4: Getting the tooth capped with by my regular dentist
Trip 5: 6 month post-surgery checkup by root canal specialist

Fortunately, the entire thing exceeded my dental coverage for the year, so I had to pay about $900 out of pocket.

    Fuck.

I've had two terrible experiences. First, one time my dentist had a booger in his nose that I could see. With every breath, it would slide in and out of his nostril...looking as if it fall out at any moment. He was working right over me with my mouth wide open and my eyes fixated on the booger. I was sure it was going to dislodge and fall in my mouth. It was the most terriying moment of my life. Luckily, it didn't fall out.
Secondly, while I had wisdom tooth surgery I had a weird reaction to the laughing gas. When I regained consciousness, the dentist told me that I had apparently cursed out a hygenist and made her cry. Also, I went into great detail about my high school sex life. I was so embarrassed. The nurse got even because she stuck a blood baggy filled my my one inch long pulled wisdom teeth in my pocket. Gross!

When I was really young, I got pneumonia. The doctor prescribed tetracycline even though i was too young to be taking that. It screwed up my adult teeth, where I would get cavities very easily for the rest of my life unless I took EXTRA SPECIAL care of my teeth.

Well as a kid you eat a lot of candy and crap (at least if you lived with my parents you did), and unless you're told to, you often forget to brush your teeth. And nobody put 2 and 2 together regarding the tetracycline from years before. I always had tooth aches and cavities and whateverthef*ck. So at a very early age I had to start going to the dentist and my first dentist was this woman, Dr. Crockett. I will never forget that unrelenting bitch. She billed herself as a children's dentist, but honestly she did NOT know how to deal with children.

My experiences with this woman scarred me for life, emotionally, where anything dental is concerned. If I cried, she would cover my mouth and nose so that I couldn't breathe. She would pinch me. Pulled my hair on various occasions. It was horrible. Not to mention she would rarely wait until my gums were 100% numb. She'd just go about her drilling business while another assistant would hold my arms and/or legs to keep me from flailing around in pain.

Of course, I told my parents about all this crap going on, but they thought all my crying was just what kids always do at the dentist or something. They really didn't believe me until years later when I was still talking about it. They've apologized since then hahahaha!

Still. EVERY experience at the dentist for me, even now as an adult, is fucking traumatizing. To the point where this summer I paid a lot more money than I could afford, to get a lot of high-quality dental work done in one long-ass visit with a sedation dentist. That's right. I had that guy drug me up, gas me up, work on me for about 7 hours straight, and send me home with a $6K credit card bill and a mouth full of healthy teeth and gums. That was without a doubt the BEST dentist experience I've ever had, because I was unconscious through the whole thing.

OK you can put the violins away now...

GG that was absolutely the worst thing I've heard in a long time. Have you checked to see if this old wench is still at it? I'd have to publish an editorioal in her local paper about how she was a Natzi trained dentist with a warped mind ... I'm so sorry you went through that!!!

DAMN! Great idea! I wonder if i spelled her name right....ok i'm back. looked her up. I guess she might have retired. the only Crockett in miami listed as a dentist is not in that area and it's a man. Fred.

I guess the office i see isn't hers anymore. I should look to see if the name is still on it.

My dentist ALWAYS wears a mask over the nose and mouth (plus some kinds saftey glasses) when working over me. They do that with ALL patients.

Yeah looking back, I really wish my parents had believed me and sued the crap out of that woman. I GET SO ANGRY thinking about what she did to me.

I was seriosuly traumatized to the point that the first time I didn't cry at the dentist, I was like 17 years old. I'm not kidding. And it was a huge deal. I was like, "Mom guess what, i didn't cry at the dentist today!" And it was cause for celebration almost! hahahaha!

Goal getter that does sound horrible. Its to bad you didnt grow up in the days of malpractice lawsuits could have hit the Dr's and thats plural for some cash! lol.

And the whole gas thing when you wake up, that stuff is insane. When I broke my ankle and they did surgery I woke up and I was litteraly hallucinating. It was the worst trip(s) i have ever had, including the fall that broke my ankle .
