Just letting Rob know that the Smiley's aren't working for me again

Awhile back in July or August or something none of the smiley's worked.

He said to delete the Internet files in the Internet Options in your Tool list.

I've done that more than once & the smiley's still don't work.

Plus I've just done a clean up with my Panda Anti-Virus System Mechanic & Ad-Aware 6.0 & they still don't work?

Any reason why?

Thanks.

I imagine the amount of time he can spend to try and get your own system working are somewhat limited.

AdAware 6.0 is outdated, and even with SE I never use it alone.

How about an explanation of how specifically they "dont work," you are leaving us to guess here. At the moment it sounds like the IE animation bug which happens when cache is full, I've found clearing it by hand is more effective. But, you also have to close IE afterwards.

Unfortunately it's still letting you post.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain...

yeah Ad-Aware is out dated.

I currently use Panda Anti-Virus which is amazing & includes a System Mechanic that deep cleans your computer full of junk & spyware much more than Ad-Aware does.

It's great.

I had just finished a scan & clean up & found a shit load of garbage files that Ad-Aware didn't get rid of.

Well one smiley worked just now as you can see, but I can't click on any of the others nor the more smiely's option.

When I do click it, it sends me to the top of the page? (I had to hand write this one to work)

Use Adaware SE and Spybot together. Individually neither is good enough.

Johnnny, are you using any sort of image blocker? Firefox's adblock perhaps?

Thanks for the tip, I will have to look into it.

Well I do have Zone Alarm but I don't think this would block images & no FireFox Adblock.

Oh also now whenever I'm on forums, certain words that I type like internet, or spyware or health get underlined as links which happened to me once before about the same time as the smiley's didn't work.

Someone said this was a virus, but I don't have any virus's as I just did a complete scan & system mechanic scan.

strange.

I always keep my computer clean, plus I didn't use it for 12 days while I was away in Toront on vacation, it was shut down.

Zonealarm wont block smilies it has nothing to do with a firewall its probably your IE settings if your using IE. Smilies require some sort of active scripting you might try lowering the browser security settings in IE or even better go get Mozilla Firefox.

Well I just deleted a bunch of garbage spyware again.

Yet certain words are still being underlined such as spyware for example.

This is getting weird.

I'm assuming that you use IE. Try FireFox and then let me know if the problem persists.

AdAware SE, I also use Spybot Search and Destroy, and Spysweeper, and HijackThis!

One spyware program is not enough anymore.

Dude its called spyware. It could be BargainBuddy or any one of numerous programs hoping that you will click those links and earn them a nickel.

Some servers will put %20 in between spaces, use UNDERSCORE _

I know, but I twice just removed a bunch of spyware garbage & it's still bloody doing this.

It's damn annoying, hell the word spyware you just wrote is underlined

errr You have just successfully used two smilies. Which ones don't work for you? Try putting them down in this thread. Possibly you can't seem them but we can

I will check out all that you guys have mentioned here.

In the past my Anti-Virus's, & Ad-Aware (even though out dated) usually did the trick.

If you read what I said earlier I had to manually type out those smiley codings on the keyboard to get them to work.

I seem to be able to make one smiley selection now & that's it, I can't make any smiley selections? (this was hand written)

Now we are getting somewhere, you can't click on them. Perhaps an update to your McAffee program did it, the Norton Utilities cripples a lot of web stuff.

Why? Because security is NOT friendly.
