    Exclamation Attention Cell Users!!!!!

    Starting Jan 1, 2005, all cell phone numbers will be made public to telemarketing firms. That means that Jan 1, cell phones will start ringing off the hook, but unlike your home phone, most of us pay for incoming calls. these telemarketers will eat up your free minutes and in the long run cost you money.

    According to the national do not call list, you have until dec 15, 2004 to get on the "do not call list". They said that you need to call from the cell phone that you wish to place on the list(1-888-382-1222) or you can go online http://www.donotcall.gov/. regeristing only takes a few minutes and is in effect for five years and will possibly save you money.

    YOU ONLY HAVE TILL DEC 15th SO HURRY!!!

    I don't understand why a cell carrier would do that, privacy is a big thing to customers.
    If sense were common, everyone would have it.

    Thanks Prem, I regged at 11:55, lol.
    I wonder why are they suddenly being released Jan 1st?

    I get the feeling after the first do not call list went into effect, the telemarketing companies sustained alot of damage.. eventually one of the people in charge slipped some money under the table and suddenly cell phone numbers needed to be public information.

    well if they're all being released, Id say it wasnt a decision made by the companies.

    Well, that, or they all got together and said,"If we all sell our lists off to the telemarketers, then we all make money, and our customers cant leave us for someone better because all the other companies do the same thing."
    Until I see otherwise, this is just proof of how bad corruption is in the US.
    (Lol, this is where somebody posts a link showing that a new phone book is being made for cell phone users convienience, and thats how telemarketers get the numbers:P)

    I think the Govt. owns the numbers. Thats why you can switch cell companies now, and keep the same number.

    It was a decision made by six of seven of the major wireless phone providers in the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association (CTIA). Verizon is the only company not participating.

    it doesn't sound like a good business plan or something the government would let go on. if i owned a cell company i wouldn't do it to my customers it sucks. i doubt it's true.
