Real swords or just wallhangers? If you just want decoration, I can point you to a few stainless steel manufacturers I trust. They're not really expensive. But if you want real hand forged, folded steel like my two in my sig, that will cost you. I can give you some websites to look at if you want. They're great for cardio.

I have much love for RAS. But in all honesty, he HAS let Drizzt get monotonous. I did not enjoy 1000 Orcs and Lone Drow even less. I read several reader reviews of Two Swords on several forums and all of them bashed it to no end. The way he wrote the whole Cattie-Brie thing left too many people pissed. But even so..... I still dig Drizzt even though Im not going to read Two Swords. Im waiting for more Entreri and Jarlaxle novels.

Glad to know you guys like these books. I was beggining to feel all alone here, LOL.

I'm with you about the monotony of the later books. It's like he's just rewriting IMO. His series of the Demon Wars was pretty good though, I enjoyed that whole series and he ended them after 7 books.

I'll look at whatever sites you have. I imagine for decor 'cause I don't see myself ever actually using one LOL.

Well I'll send you some sites for decoration and some that I think maybe you can swing around without warping the blades or breakin the handles. So far Ive come up with 2 different dual sword patterns that I practice when not bulking. One with some things I learned off Drizzt. Definately great for cardio.

Cool, thanks man. So do you teach yourself these patterns or have you taken classes for it?

I basicaly teach myself. I have a source for overseas training videos and DVDs and I also read as much as I can on styles and moves and such. Then I practice my ass off. The fight scenes in the Drizzt books are actually real good to learn from, it just takes a bit of dissecting. Word was a while back that Salvatore consulted a sword master to help write out the fight scenes because the moves he wrote were actually real moves. I dont know about all that (he said in an interview that he didnt) but I do know that the fight scenes have lost the intricacies and depth of the first books.

That's pretty cool. They have lost the intricacies of the beginning books. When I met him he said he used to do swordplay and he wrote from his experience.

The techniques he wrote were masterful and are very difficult to duplicate. You cant just come up with stuff like the because you used to "sword play".

You know they were going to make a mini-series outta of the Drizzt books (or maybe it was just a reg TV show).

They've been talking about that for years. I dont know how screwed up it will be if they do a TV or movie because RAS does not own the rights to Drizzt or any of the characters. He has absolutely no artistic control, only a "consultant" place. There's no way anyone who is not a fan can capture what Drizzt is all about in a movie or TV setting. Mainly cause of the time constraints. Look at what happened to the last LOTR movie. Everyone was POd that they cut so much stuff out. Thats why they added it all on the "director's cut" DVD.

Then there's the problem of who will play Drizzt........ I swear Ive seen the geeks at RAS' message board come to almost physical blows over THAT issue. I can only imagine what they will do if someone that cant represent gets the role. Expect mass Columbines, is all I can say. Geeks are very emotional over this issue.

Well and look at the TV shows like Hercules and Xena. Might be entertaining but the fight scenes and acting sucks. Just not "movie" quality. People might have been PO'd over the last LOTR movie, but I'm a huge fan of the book and still loved the movie. Given the time constraints I think it was very well done. The geeks crack me up. There were a bunch of them there when I met him and the questions they asked, give me a break LOL.

Oh man.......just how much time did you spend on that RAS message board?? Did you see the topics they FIGHT over???

Drizzt vs Entreri...

Zak vs Drizzt...

Drizzt's sisters vs each other...

Who would win in a fight? RAS or Tolkein

And if anyone doubts me, go to that message board and have a look around.

Anyways, yeah I can only imagine the questions they ask. Ive heard many of them myself. I once heard some geek at a local comic book store saying how he was really Drizzt in another life. And he was serious. But what bothered me more was how the three geeks around him also took him seriously. I would have said something but I had already almost been arrested at that store a few months before for threatening another geek to slap him TFU.
